I like the inexpensive American-made Hi Point C9 9mm pistol. At around $110 brand new, it can't be beat...

I still like the old 1911. 38 special is as small as I like to reload. The old 45/70 in my Contender is a kick. Getting a muzzle break on the 458 Win Mag. Getting too old for the kick.

I had to pay $150 for mine, but I do live in California.

Can't get their 40 Caliber here because it isn't on the “approved” list and Hi Point doesn't want to go through all the trouble.

That being said, my S&W Model 29 (44 Magnum) is still my favorite gun.

I bought a Hi-Point C9 out of sheer curiosity. After seeing multiple threads on gun forums where people argued about Hi-Points, I decided to get one and see for myself. I figured that for the price (I paid $144), I really couldn't go wrong, even if it was a POS.

I took it to the range and ran 100 rounds through it with zero problems, to the surprise of the guy working at the range who told me that my Hi-Point would "blow up in my face". Once I sighted it in, it was right on target. It did have slightly more recoil than I would have expected, especially given that it isn't a light gun. It's not the prettiest 9mm out there, nor is it my carry piece, but it did just fine. My only disclaimer is that I didn't load the mag to full-capacity because I read that it would cause jams until broken in.

I also have a Hi-Point 9mm carbine and absolutely love it.

Hi Points and other inexpensive handguns aren't my cup of tea, but the definitely fill a niche. Capitalism in action.

Here's my latest acquisition (yeah, I posted it in another thread...it's fun to show it off!). Mauser model 1934 in .32 ACP.

Those things are terrible.

For a little more you can get a surplussed ex-military 9mm by a quality maker and of quality design.

I have the C-9 and the CF-380 both bookmarked for potential purchase, as a matter of fact.

I’ll build you a custom 1911, and you’ll pay someone to take that pistol in the picture...

Can you give us some more info if you’ve had hands-on experience with the piece? We’re all suspicious of “cheap” handguns, but I will be the first to admit that with modern manufacturing technology and materials, handguns could be made a) well and b) much more cheaply than the current $400 to $1200 price range for “reputable” pieces today.

$110 cheap? I dunno about that, tho. $250, I’d believe in a second.

$110.00! Is that true? Does it shoot OK?
Damn, that is cheap.

Wow, that is a nice looking weapon and the price is stunning. Has it ever jammed on you?
