WASHINGTON The brazen reality TV hopefuls who managed to crash the White House state dinner earlier this week may face criminal charges, the Secret Service said today.
Secret Service spokesman Jim Mackin says the agency is moving closer to beginning a criminal investigation. He says thats one reason the Secret Service hasnt yet explained what happened when Michaele and Tareq Salahi arrived at the security checkpoint Tuesday for the dinner honoring Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
Mackin says theres less the Secret Service can say as the probe moves closer to a criminal investigation. He says the agency isnt leaving any options off the table at this point.
Secret Service agents went to the the Oasis Winery in Hume, Virginia, which the Salahis own, a person who works there confirmed to The Post.

Just as there are certain hours you can enter places (public parks, city hall, an armory etc) there would be certain hours for visitors to enter the WH (they have set tour hours).
But aside from walking in (and being allowed by the Secret Service) without the invitation, trespassing seems the only real charge. Someone mentioned to me lying to a Federal Officer. Possible I guess.
My take is that obama has thrown the SS under the bus, by making them take the fall for the the people walking in, when their job is to protect the president (which they did).
It seems to me that someone at the white house let them in on a lark, and the SS has to take the blame for it.
as we all know - protocol is seldom followed by either obama, this is a good example of why there is protocol. The consequences could have been devastating to the president.
By the way, I didn’t see - did the o bow to him?
I just had another thought on this. It’s long been speculated that o wants his own private security. What better way to get it than to show the SS is “inept”.
I hope he doesn’t face serious consequences to his own safety out of spite.
Or not...

From that same thread, only later did you see this?

(I think the secret service guys are the best of the best...I really do think this is an attempt to embarrass the SS. You can be sure that it will be the o’s or the social secretary that is embarassed next time.)
It has now come out that they didn’t lie though, they walked right in, gave their own name, and walked right through two security checkpoints without being questioned. I see your point, but they didn’t really break any laws here. Just because someone doesn’t like you being somewhere and throws a s***fit over it doesn’t make it illegal in the eyes of the law, at a roller rink or the White House the same laws apply.
Another little fact also - If you are asked your name the response you give verbally cannot be held as a lie. Your name might be Mike, but your middle name is Thomas and you hate Mike so you call yourself Tom. Telling the police Tom is not against the law, neither is saying Steve if you are Paul, how you pronounce it is entirely up to you. The only way you can get in trouble is if you write it wrong or have fake or altered ID.
