In an attempt to paint Senator John McCain as bitter over his defeat in the 2008 presidential election, President Obama was blunt during last nights Health Care summit. After McCain articulated some of the GOPs concerns with the health care bill, a cantankerous Obama tells him, Let me just make this point, John, because were not campaigning anymore. The election is over.
Obamas remark tarnished the personae of a diplomatic mediator that he attempted to establish during the summit. Of course, it didnt help that he also dominated the conversation and did little to hide his impatience at the statements from the GOP, even mocking them at times. Needless to say, his behavior has sparked another media frenzy and has Americans once again calling Obama both rude and arrogant.
Ron Fournier of the Washington Post writes that throughout the debate over the health care bill, Republicans have branded Obama as arrogant and overreaching for refusing to drop a health care plan that a majority of voters dont favor.
Aside from the level of arrogance to which Fournier points, Obamas demeanor and remarks throughout the summit betrayed his overall arrogant nature. When Senator Lamar Alexander, (R-Tenn.) commented on Obamas healthcare plan as a car that cant be recalled and fixed, and we ought to start over, Obamas body language revealed his frustration, from his pursed lips down to his smirk and the cradling of his chin.
Likewise, when Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell remarked that the Democrats spoke for 52 minutes during the first portion of the summit while Republicans had a mere 24 minutes of talk time, Obama once again felt the need to remind him that he was president. Youre right. There was an imbalance on the opening statement because Im the president. Fournier adds, Call it home court advantage.
Perhaps the most striking aspect of Obamas seemingly impertinent response to McCains statement was Obamas unwillingness to address the concerns that McCain raised. Instead, he turned to Kathleen Sebelius, his secretary of health and human services, with an inquiry.
This is not the first time Obama has been accused of being rude or arrogant. Just a month ago, during his State of the Union address, Obama receieved a lot of flak for publically reprimanding the Supreme Court justices, an unprecedented act. Senator Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) reffered to Obamas remarks as kind of rude.
The impression that Obama may be a bit too haughty and uncouth is not limited to Americans. In March of 2009, Iain Martin of the British publication Telegraph.co.uk addressed Obamas demeaning" disposition during Gordon Browns visit to the Oval Office. Martin wrote, Why couldnt President Obama have put on more of a show for his British guests? He looked like he simply couldnt be bothered. Martin continues by remarking that Obamas treatment of the British PM was exceptionally rude and that Obama spoke with little sincerity.
Despite Obamas inability to win the favor of Americans, and apparently the British, through his "charm," the fact remains that the summit proved to be unsuccessful, and not because of the Presidents arrogance. The Democrats have emerged from the summit as rigid and the Republicans have been labeled obstructionists. More importantly, the Republicans have yet to make the important argument that the best health care reform would be for government to gradually withdraw from health care altogether.
After the 7-hour bipartisan summit on health care reform, Obama concludes by saying, We cannot have another year-long debate about this. So the question that Im going to ask myself and I ask of all of you is, is there enough serious effort that in a months time or a few weeks time or six weeks time we could actually resolve something? He adds, And if we cant, then I think weve got to go ahead and make some decisions, and thats what elections are for.
Obama is a puppet. It’s the puppetmasters that scare the crapola out of me. He’s got another one, the union president that so far has been running things under the radar, coming to the rescue. God save us all.
” . . . and thats what elections are for.
Seems that the Democrats and the liberal media have missed the point that the Bamster has thrown them under the bus in his spoiled-brat, Lucy-Van-Pelt temper tantrum. He wants to have his way and believes everyone else is Charlie Brown.
Not to mention that the commiecraps’ presentation looked like a yuppie group therapy meeting at the asylum blaming their actions on the stories of fake constituents having to wear their dead sister’s false teeth that need their help, terribly....just terribly.
He bobs his head from side to side like a tennis fan, while the Secretary of Steak bobs her head up and down like one of those plastic gooney birds you occasionally see clamped on the edge of a water glass.
Obummer is reading his script while attempting to look natural while the SS is just bobbing up and down until it's her turn to speak.
With all the ciggies this creep sucks I'll bet he smells like an ashtray.
I just wonder if there is any significance to the "white" in the whale as the Brits evaluate our Phony In Chief.
Obama has the charm of the brother-in-law who can’t put down the spiked egg nog at the family Christmas party.
Only an insane person would shove a corpse’s choppers into her maw.
Makes no difference he personally demeans the office.
Looking back a few months from now, that may be the understatement of the year.
Obama is like that girl or guy you pick up in the bar at quarter till closing time. They look darn good then, but you wake up in the morning chewing your arm off.
Any person who is seasoned in the business world has encountered this personality type. Overall, in the end, all but a limited circle of close associates just quiety avoid the person and avoid having to interact with him/her. I suspect that, my now, a large number of both REPUBS and DEMS have decided to just avoid the Odumbo at all costs and to go about doing the best they can under the circumstances. Reid and Pelousy are stuck to Odumbo’s arse, unfortunately.
Sheesh, can’t spell this morning...Sorry

TRI CARE FOR LIFE This from a google search:
http://economicspolitics.blogspot.com/2009/05/tricare-for-life-is-obama-trying-to.html
This option would help reduce the costs of TFL, as well as costs for Medicare, by introducing minimum out-of pocket requirements for beneficiaries. Under this option, TFL would not cover any of the first $525 of an enrollees cost-sharing liabilities for calendar year 2011 and would limit coverage to 50 percent of the next $4,725 in Medicare cost sharing that the beneficiary incurred. (Because all further cost sharing would be covered by TFL, enrollees could not pay more than $2,888 in cost sharing in that year.) http://www.cbo.gov/ftpdocs/99xx/doc9925/12-18-HealthOptions.pdf

Tricare fee increases imposed last week by the Defense Department will be repealed by a provision of the compromise 2010 defense authorization bill unveiled Wednesday by House and Senate negotiators.
Snip The fee increases were announced on Sept. 30 and took effect on Oct. 1, but the defense bill, HR 2647, includes a provision barring any fee increases until the start of fiscal 2011.
Snip
Retired Army Maj. Gen. Bill Matz, president of the National Association for Uniformed Services, said the announcement of fee increases was shocking considering that the Obama administration promised earlier this year to hold off on any new fee Tricare fee increases until fiscal 2011.
President Obama and DoD assured NAUS and the entire military family earlier this year that there would rightly be no increases in any Tricare fees in fiscal 2010, Matz said. We took them at their word, and I cant believe that a co-pay increase like this was allowed to go forward, he added.
