Buying Votes With Water

Politics: The water spigots are back on, at least temporarily, in California's Central Valley. Turned off to protect a tiny fish, they happen to be in the districts of two congressmen "undecided" on health care reform.

One could chalk it up to good fortune or just good constituent service. But in the middle of a contentious health care debate marked by Cornhusker Kickbacks and Louisiana Purchases, we may be forgiven if we find an announcement by the Department of the Interior regarding California's water supply a tad too coincidental.

On Tuesday, the Department of the Interior announced it was increasing water allocations for the Central Valley of California, a region that depends on these water allocations for local agriculture and jobs. The timing adds to our suspicions.

According to the Interior announcement, "Typically (the Bureau of) Reclamation would release the March allocation update around March 22nd, but moved up the announcement at the urging of Senators (Diane) Feinstein and (Barbara) Boxer, and Congressmen (Jim) Costa and (Dennis) Cardoza."

Blue Dog Democrats Costa, who represents California's 20th Congressional District (Fresno), and Cardoza, who represents the 18th (Stockton to Modesto), are both listed as "undecided" in the upcoming vote on health care reform, whether it be on the Senate bill itself or the "deem and pass" resolution known as the Slaughter rule, after Rules Committee Chairman Louise Slaughter.

The rule subverts the Constitution by allowing the bill to pass without members actually having to vote on it. Interior's announcement gives Costa and Cardoza something to assuage the wrath of angry constituents just in time for any vote. They chose what was behind door number one.

Today its water, tomorrow its food.

It is food . This area produces 50% of the produce sold in this country . It also produce many almonds and other nuts.
The trees are already damaged if not dead. If the water is not turned on soon produce prices are going to skyrocket everywhere.

Well, the congresscritters have declared war upon us.
- - - - - -
This is what we get for accepting federal bureaucratic autonomy over local resources. Bureaucrats in Washington could care less if a little non-native fish swims in our river or not. What matters to them is whatever power they can exert over us to limit our ability to be self-sufficient. They will never waste an emergency and where none exists, they will create one. If the end result is diminishing our wealth, reducing our ability to fill our own energy and food needs, or restricting our freedom, they are for it. When they attack the Central Valley of California, they are attacking the food basket of America and redistributing wealth to places like Mexico, Argentina and Chile.

When Californians wake up (and they’ll be the last state to do so) they will throw off the tyrants... but don’t hold your breath.

Now the one precious commodity is used as a blackmail weapon, much like Putin and Gazprom uses natural gas as a weapon.

Vital natural resources used as weapons, as bargaining chips. Insidious but highly effective.

It’ll quietly happen...bet on it; just as soon as attention is diverted elsewhere.

When are we going to see these crooks “frog-marched” to jail?

When was the last time you saw crooked politicians frog-marched anywhere?

They'll have a judge turn it back off again once they have the votes.

Today its water, tomorrow its food.

Actually, in this case it IS food. This is a heavily agricultural area, and no water = no food grown.

If they had any spine, they would show up on the floor and vote NO. This story is getting lots of play now and should they turn their water back off after they vote no...EVERYONE WILL BE READY TO IMPEACH AND STORM DC!!

We should write them and encourage them to surprise Piglosi with a big ole NO vote on Sunday...lol. That would teach the communist thugs a lesson they would never forget!

When the 10th amendment was shot down, and we started letting the Feds take over every aspect of our lives and states, THIS is the result.
