What would Hernán Cortés do if he were here today? What exactly would this kind man do when he heard these illegal aliens referring to themselves as Hispanic, or Spanish, or from Spain.

What would Hernán Cortés do if he were here today? What exactly would this kind man do when he heard these illegal aliens referring to themselves as Hispanic, or Spanish, or from Spain. Would this man who killed every Mayan, Aztec, or indigenous central American stand side by side with todays Mexicans? That's all I'm asking, what would he do?

For one thing, he did not kill “every Mayan, Aztec, or indigenous central American.” In fact, he would not have conquered Mexico if the Tlaxcaltecas had not been his allies.

I noticed that Utah isn’t included in the “Republica del Norte,” although it was part of the Mexican cession of 1848. I wonder why?

.
At the core of his force were six (and only six) mounted men who, despite their small number were a huge advantage. He had some cannon which influenced the outcome in many of the major actions. His infantry force, while more than six, was also small.

But, the vast bulk of his army, numerically, consisted of local nations who hated the Aztecs.

Looks like they bit off St George though. Hard to see how they’d get past that narrow defile on I-15 coming out of Nevada. 330 determined Utahans could hold that for quite a while.

“killed every Mayan, Aztec, etc.”? Funny how people who really know nothing of Cortes or the Aztecs post as if they did.

You are right, he did have many Indian allies who were tired of being plundered by the Aztecs and serving as the Aztecs’ “other white meat”. The Aztecs were savages of the worst sort, and the tribes they subjugated and ate were all too happy to have Cortes act as the point of the spear. Cortes and all of his men probably would have been killed and eaten (instead of just some of them) if it hadn’t been for the thousands upon thousands of Indian warriors allied with him.

I wonder if we will ever free ourselves of the myth of the “noble savage”.

I noticed that they also took Las Vegas, but not Nevada’s “cow counties.”

That is all true, but the Spaniards of that day were fighters and a half. They had been fighting the Moors for several centuries and were born to war. Advancement up the Spanish social ladder was quite possible for those who succeeded in war as well as riches.

Uh, you have your history wrong. Most Mexicans today are descendants of the Indians and the Europeans, with the Indian share of the gene pool predominating in central and southern Mexico. 30% of the population still speaks Indian languages.

The very term "La Raza" comes from "La Raza Cosmica" (The Cosmic Race) coined by the Mexican sociologist Jose Vasconcellos. It refers to the fact that, per Vasconcellos, the Mexican race possesses the best qualities of both the Indian and the European.

As for Cortes himself, he took an Aztec princess as his mistress and fathered children with her.

A very important point missed by many. Let's also not forget the fact that the Spaniards did NOT bring wives with them, and the local tribes were all too willing to offer their daughters up to them (a key reason why so much of the population of Latin America is mixed, relative to the US).

Let's also not forget that in most Latin American countries, the Indians/mestizos are often the majority of the population. This is NOT true in the Anglosphere, for a variety of reasons, including the fact that 1. the English and Scots brought wives and 2. they were much more effective at killing the indians than the Spanish and Portuguese were.

Whenever I hear all this “La Raza” stuff, I'd like to ask the guys with names like Sanchez and Rodríguez if they realize their families’ origins are Visigoth, as European as you can get.

I remember when Nelson Mandela came to the US he wouldn’t come to Chicago, he said if you want to call yourselves African, come to Africa and pick up a gun, then you can call yourselves Africans. Stop selling drugs on the street corners and fight for your freedom.
The Mexicans love Mexico sooooo much yet not enough to fight to make it better. They seem willing to provoke true Americans by disrespecting the US flag, and telling true patriots to go back to the Plymouth rock. Why are they so willing to fight Americans for the right to be in America, but they are not up to the task of fighting the gov’t of Mexico to make Mexico a better place to live for themselves.

They need to prove themselves to me, or one day, when the judge, jury, and executioner is in one hand, I may not be to benevolent.

Prove your case to me Mr. Illegal alien, why should I care if you live a better life, or your family for that matter.
Why should I care? I am asking, Mr alien. put down my flag and start explaining, I am not laughing at your trivializing our southern border, and stealing innocent civilians identities. I’m not impressed because you found some ugly cousin of yours to let you impregnate her 8 times. Start talking, this is your chance, make your case.

I know..Who am I? nobody. Like Patrick Swayze said in red dawn, when asked what makes us any better than the invaders, he responded.”we live here”. By the way in that movie, the scenario that they described as being the week link in our defenses is still there, and the area we are discussing in the news today. The enemy came up from Mexico, not just Mexicans. Mexicans who don’t appreciate our culture would sell a seat on a desert trail to a nuke toting terrorist in a New York minute.

I see your map originates from an organization called Minnesotans for Sustainablility. I’m a Texan living in Minnesota, and this confirms that I am living in Enemy Territory!

I saw that too. Basically, it was the only map I found with today’s state borders and cities on it.

It is quite interesting thought, think about it: ‘Minnesotans for Sustainablility’.

I guess its in question maybe.
