Shame on you.
Costner has put tens of millions of his own money into his outfit with his scientist brother and others developing these machines for the past 15 years.
THEY WORK. HE had them on the gulf 2 weeks into the spill. they could have cleaned up, it's estimated, 80% of the oil if put into use then. (Along with the other expert help offered from other countries, NONE of that oil should have reached shore.)
As to Cameron: he's an engineer. He designed the deep water submarines he used in his Titanic explorations - for starters. He may not have a Nobel Prize, like obamas newly appointed czar, but - well, do your own darn search. Freepers shouldn't have to be spoon fed. They didnt used to.)
This administration should be charged with criminal negligence, at the least.
Costner has more sense than the whole Zero Regime put together.............
Sooooo, the refuse the help the Dutch offered and grab onto Costner?
Lighten up Francis
And they failed on their first test a few weeks ago.
They have made adjustments and as of last week, had not completed their bluewater testing.
Freepers shouldn't have to be spoon fed. They didnt used to.)

Agreed.
But 32 skimmers at 250,000 gpd each (the V20 model) and still spitting out 10,000 ppm of oil (they are not exactly clear on their specs, I noted, but I'm assuming that they mean they are able to reduce effluent to 1% oil from the way they state it) aren't going to do much. Even if you add 10 per month (that's how many they have said they can fabricate), that's not solving this.
Note, it's not like Costner had these things sitting around ready to go. They will take months to deliver even the first 32, from what I read.
My understanding is that their is other technology that is better and already made that has been refused.
Choosing Costner is only a PR move on this. He’ll speak out on behalf of BP as this goes forward.
Why are you in bed with Mr. Waterworld? By the way, it’s spelled “GOOGLE”.
Costner is the marketing arm. His brother is an actual engineer who designed the thing.
Still it seems good they are trying this.
Does Cameron know oil? BP has plenty of deep water engineers and submersibles. They need people who understand oil and the complexities of drilling 5000 feet down.
I am thinking they could have stopped this long ago.
Do you have any evidence that Cameron is an actual engineer that designed things or is it more like he put up the money and others who actually studied engineering do the leg work and he took credit? I am not accusing you of being wrong but just curious to know the EXACT ROLE he had.
Costner and Cameron both have talent to offer - I’d take either of them over the idiot in the White House...
Are you talking about this Kevin Costner?

I saw him sitting there during the inquisition yesterday and wondered why. Now I know.
I’ve been out of the loop recently- can’t believe we have freepers who wouldn’t support Costner or anyone’s ideas to mitigate this nightmare. I remember weeks ago he was begging for at least a chance to try his technology. It seemed odd that no one took him up on it. But...then we are all wondering what’s really going on here anyway.
Good for him. Someone that is actually part of the solution, not part of the problem. Obama, get the hell out of the way. Go Kevin!!!!! I wonder if he’ll be hiring factory workers to turn these things out.
Costner didn’t develop the machines, his brother did. That said, he put his money where his mouth is, and DID something to help the environment, rather than just talking about it, apparently without a lot of hoopla. I’d never heard of this technology until the Deepwater Horizon accident. It’s shameful that it’s taken this long to deploy it, but I sure hope it works!
The U.S. government needs BP's deepwater technology to try to shut off the oil well, said Carol Browner, President Barack Obama's adviser on energy and climate change.
"Obviously, we need the BP technology, but we are not relying on them ... we have our own minds in there," she told CNN, referring to the team of government scientists working with BP to battle the disaster.
Carol Browner - American lawyer, environmentalist
Browner worked as legislative director for Senator Al Gore, and became known as a Gore protegé. She helped prepare amendments to the Clean Air Act
Her long-term goal was "to leave the world a slightly better place"
During her tenure, Browner also began efforts to deal with global warming, giving the EPA authority to regulate carbon emissions causing climate change, although the EPA under the following George W. Bush administration chose not to use that authority. Several other policies of hers were reversed in the Bush administration as well.
In the final days of the Clinton administration, D.C. District Judge Royce C. Lamberth ordered the EPA to preserve under the Freedom of Information Act all documents possibly relevant to last-minute EPA regulation issuances. In 2003, Lamberth found the EPA in contempt for not having preserved Browner's files.
Browner is now married to former Congressman Thomas Downey. The marriage, his second, her third. In 2006, she and Downey collaborated on behalf of Dubai Ports World.
She was also on the boards of the Center for American Progress (John Podesta/George Soros), the Alliance for Climate Protection, and the League of Conservation Voters.
Until summer 2008 she was a member of Socialist International's Commission for a Sustainable World Society
In late May 2010 she assessed the spill as "probably the biggest environmental disaster we have ever faced in this country" and said that the administration was "prepared for the worst".
As an engineer myself, I am greatly offended that you would refer to James Cameron as an engineer. He has neither the education nor professional experience to claim the title. That’s like calling a mother a nurse because she administers medicine and first aid to her children.
