Republicans received further encouraging word in Southwest Washington's open congressional seat Thursday morning.
A new poll from SurveyUSA taken for KING-TV in Seattle shows Republican Jaime Herrera, a state representative from Camas, leading Democrat Denny Heck, 54 percent to 41 percent. The two are vying to replace retiring Democratic Rep. Brian Baird of Vancouver.
Interestingly, the poll result is not far off the vote totals gathered by the two parties in last week's non-partisan primaries. The latest results show Republicans with 53.7 percent of the vote to 42.4 percent for the Democrats.

Good news in Washington state. If she wins, Herrera could turn out to be a rising star.
Yes, very good news. Looks like another dimoKKKRAT take away.
would you please ask the admin to add (WA) to the title? Thanks.
Yeah, this one looks like we have it in the bag. Just as a bit of trivia, I was wondering where I’d heard of the names Herrera and Heck in a CD before, and it reminded me of NV-3. One Dario Herrera (Democrat) was an up-and-coming pol in that newly created district back in 2002, but ended up getting defeated and eventually went to prison. Now a Republican named Joe Heck is expected to win that same seat this year.
I just requested it.
I think the GOP taking 100 seats in the House could be a low-ball estimate, the way things are going for the Dems right now.
This is great news. Since moving here I’ve waited for the day a Repub would replace Baird, he’s a wolf in sheeps clothing.
In 2002, the Democrats were pushing hard to capture the “Red Rock 4” or something like that: CO-07, NV-03, AZ-01 and NM-01 IIRC. The GOP won all four races, but coughed up all four districts in 2006. In 2010, we’re winning them back.
What the Heck? Who the Hell is Heck?
I voted for Herrera in the primary because she is the conservative that I felt would have the best chance of winning in November. It turns out we were right. An independent group has been running TV commercials criticizing Denny Heck and connecting him with Pelosi. It would be nice having Herrera as our Representative and casting a vote for a Republican (likely John Boehner) for Speaker. But, I need to make sure that my church friends vote.
Another young candidate that has a great shot of winning.
Thanks. I’m interested in all the races, but with 365 races around the country, it helps to know where when we don’t know the who.
Is she a “mama grizzly”????
That’s why I thought of Nevada when I saw this thread title.
Say WA? Evergreen State ping

This is great!
I met heck at a parade and he was a total jack ass!
I asked him what he was going to do....he said to go check his website.
I asked him to stop his monologing and go away!
