John Abraham panics, apparently he and the AGU are forming a “Climate rapid response team”
Watts Up With That? ^ | November 7, 2010 | Anthony Watts

Gosh. A “Climate rapid response team” from Minnesota? What will they be armed with? Wits and a hockey stick? So far that hasn’t worked out too well.  From the Chicago Tribune:

Climate scientists plan campaign against global-warming skeptics

The American Geophysical Union plans to announce Monday that 700 researchers have agreed to speak out on the issue. The effort is a pushback against congressional conservatives who have vowed to kill regulations on greenhouse gas emissions.

Reporting from Washington —

Faced with rising political attacks, hundreds of climate scientists are joining a broad campaign to push back against congressional conservatives who have threatened prominent researchers with investigations and vowed to kill regulations to rein in man-made greenhouse gas emissions.

The still-evolving efforts reveal a shift among climate scientists, many of whom have traditionally stayed out of politics and avoided the news media. Many now say they are willing to go toe-to-toe with their critics, some of whom gained new power after the Republicans won control of the House in last Tuesday’s election.

On Monday, the American Geophysical Union, the country’s largest association of climate scientists, plans to announce that 700 climate scientists have agreed to speak out as experts on questions about global warming and the role of man-made air pollution.

Some are prepared to go before what they consider potentially hostile audiences on conservative talk-radio and television shows.

John Abraham of St. Thomas University in Minnesota, who last May wrote a widely disseminated response to climate-change skeptics, is pulling together a “Climate Rapid Response Team,” which so far has more than three dozen leading scientists to defend the consensus on global warming in the scientific community. Some are also pulling together a handbook on the human causes of climate change, which they plan to start sending to U.S. high schools as early as this fall.

“This group feels strongly that science and politics can’t be divorced and that we need to take bold measures to not only communicate science but also to aggressively engage the denialists and politicians who attack climate science and its scientists,” said Scott Mandia, professor of physical sciences at Suffolk County Community College in New York.

“We are taking the fight to them because we are … tired of taking the hits. The notion that truth will prevail is not working. The truth has been out there for the past two decades, and nothing has changed.”

========================================

Heh, that last sentence pretty well sums it up. Read the whole article here.

I find the phrase “climate rapid response team” a bit of an oxymoron. Given the speed of climate change, did they mean “weather response team”? ;-)

Well it looks like I and many of my associates be traveling more. When these guys come to your town, demand some equal time to present the skeptic side of the story.

There are big global warming problems in Bermuda. We need 1 billion dollars to go down there and research the problem. :)

Herr Goebbels would be proud of their methods. “Yes, a rapid response team. Destroy the skeptics” he would have said if he was still around.

I hereby designate myself a climate change expert
and will sacrifice my valuable time to be paid
to go to Bermuda for a few months to study the climate
crisis that as we all know is rapidly unfolding there.
Please have someone pick me up at the Margueritaville
Airport at 5 PM sharp.

It’s been a year since the “climategate” leaks exposed “global warming” as a complete fraud, but the AGU never got the memo? What cave have these morons been living in?

Hopefully every one of these rotten bastards loose very big in their personal wealth. *uck em all. Once the new HR comes into effect, we should all hammer all the leading repubs in the HR side to take special attention to all that people like leading anti-global warming Senator Inholf has been working hard at. That is exposing the AGW falsehood.
It is high time that people like Boxer are told to shut the *uck up and craw into a hole on this issue.
Somehow this new Congress must threaten to de-fund the EPA or take away it's charter if they don't fall into line.
And the same goes with the NASA elements under the creep who operates out of NY, Hanson for the GISS etc..
It is high time that the whole issue of global warming is simply laid to rest as the total hoax it really is.

The American Geophysical Union plans to announce Monday that 700 researchers have agreed to speak out on the issue.

Hey, I can google stuff too. I have several advanced degrees. Does that make me a "researcher" too? Lets see the credentials, such as they are, of these "researchers." Probably a bunch of activist grad students just doing what their told and manipulating the data and "research" to provide the results they were told to look for.

Seriously, I'm surprised anyone would still risk their career and reputation on this GW scam. I thought everyone realized by now that it has been one big hoax and power grab. I thought most/all the "scientists" involved were quietly slinking away in (well deserved) disgrace due to their "highly suspect" methods. (and that is being kind)

I would be ashamed, literally ashamed of myself to even think about promoting this scam in any way.

These people terrify me. A “climate rapid response team” can only sound like one thing: they are going to invade the homes of American families and swiftly exterminate the inhabitants. Of course, only Republicans would suffer only this plan.

The American people are slowly realizing that Democrats are unadulterated psychopaths. The Democrats are going to operate as quickly as they can before they become a permanent minority; we can only hope that Boehner has the balls to hold them off, which is appearing increasingly unlikely.

Stayed out of politics? Not the ones promoting the AGW scam.

Climate Rapid Response Team— My husband when we get a Nor'easter or Lake Effect snow storm. You should see the scientific equipment (snowblower, shovel, warm clothes, gloves) he has amassed in his lab (garage). Was going to put a plow on the Prius, not sure about that one! ;) hee hee

Fee and Dividend
The Carbon ‘Fee and Dividend’ presented by Dr. James Hansen has the best potential to initiate cause and effect that will protect the economy while lowering Co2 emissions. Fee and dividend is, by all reasoned accounts, the most simple method possible to reduce Co2 emissions, move us toward renewable sustainable energy and maintaining a functioning economy.

What is Fee and Dividend – A Short Summary

A fee is charged at the point of origin or point of import on greenhouse gas emitting energy (oil, gas and coal).

The fee is progressive (increases gradually) over time.
The fee is returned to the public.

By assuring all of the fees are returned to the public, we don’t have the problem of special interests arguing about who gets the money. It ALL goes back to the public directly.

******

How does it go back to the public?!
