I've been connecting to that station via my iphone to listen to Beck and Hannity’s third hour if I have been away from my computer, as these are not available over the air in the metro Detroit area. (That I know of, at least.) I have not been able to do so for the past few days. I might as well delete that station from my “Favorites” list.

The station will probably be going Spanish within the year.

“Makes one wonder George is that you?”

That was my first thought.

So ONE radio station makes a programing change and it's a headline??? Hmmmm.

The reception is so horrible I never bother with it anymore. At home I can get WDEL, but the signal is just as noisy. For the past couple of years I’ve streamed Rush, Hannity, etc. through my phone instead.

I am a fan of Dom Giordano, he was a teacher at my High School for a couple of years. If he has ba!!s like his idol Joey Vento, owner of Geno’s Steaks, he would would not continue on this station. As far as Smerconish, he will always be a waterboy and never a star. That is what happens when you leave your principles and sell your soul. I can see how he and Obama are on the same side, both with huge egos. I remember a couple of years back Smerconish was livid his application was denied at a private golf course. I guess he felt they should have felt privileged that he wanted to join. They probably had a heads up on what kind of snake this guy really is.

They’re both on Sirius satellite at their regular times. Wish Rush would sign a satellite deal.

And after his last contract debacle, how long will Howie be on RKO after his contract is finally up?

His contract ends in the fall of ‘12 and I’d think he’d jump somewhere else once it does, if he can

Not a very smart decision. I’m sure another Philadelphia station can’t wait to pick up both shows and the additional ratings and revenue that go along with carrying them.

In fact, the price for both shows just went through the roof. And two “local personalities” are about to become unemployed.

If the station was in Podunk backwoods somewhere with an audience of twelve I would agree. However, a station in one of the nation's major markets drops two of the biggest shows in radio without specifically changing its format and that is newsworthy.

WRKO= 680

In Boston case Clear Channel owns 1200 and wanted the shows
their syndie arm Premier has: Beck, Hannity (w/ Citadel),
Rush, etc. They hired frequent Howie fill in Jeff Katz
for mornings (orig from Philly, has been in NC, Boston, etc. before). Rush Radio’s ratings aren’t exactly hot but the FM
music sister stations help finance it...and Clear Channel
gets clearance for the shows and the ads

In Prov. Clear Channel’s WHJJ took away Rush from Citadel’s
WPRO

I would love to hear them on FM and/or satellite.

They are both on XM.

I've always had this picture of everyone in Philadelphia tuning in to American Bandstand every afternoon.

My guess is that some competing station will pick up the conservative talk radio audience. Why, they're probably changing the buttons on their car radios already. 1210am “Big Talker”? Not so much any more, I'll bet. Lots of recipes for scrapple and cheeze steaks, traffic and weather.

I don't think WPHT would in all honesty. Powerful signal esp. at night (though who knows, maybe not for some in certain areas). They re-upped with the Phillies for another five years. My bet is that WPHT will be either a locally-heavy conservative talker (like WPRO Providence or WTKK Boston) or sports talk (though there are enough sports talkers elsewhere in town) but I would not see the powerful AM 1200 go Spanish, even if they did get rid of Sean and Glenn. I'm wondering if the next thing we hear is Clear Channel starting a "Rush Radio" on one of their FMs in Philly and taking Rush from 1210. Who knows.

Coverage area for WPHT--and this doesn't count those who can get it at night or nr dawn or dusk:
