The picture on the left is what a section of the Great Kanto Highway looked on March 11, 2011, the day of the earthquake.
The picture on the right is what the same section of highway looked on March 15, 2011, four days later.
Here's a photo of truck traffic on the highway taken March 19, 2011.

Now we drown in a cesspool of government and leftist interference.
they must not have unions there...
Wait. What? No way!
You mean, instead of sitting around saying “We’re so screwed,” and “It’s doomsday,” and “Where are my iodide pills,” and “Buy gold!,” these folks did work and accomplished something?
What were they thinking??
Remember Pink Lady, the pop sensation that had a Top 40 hit in American during 1979?
Anyway, the Japanese people are a lot like me, they are extremely polite, hard-working and they like to eat a lot of fish. I would consider moving there but I can't make heads or tails out of their language.
Here in western NY, the local Gov’t has been talking for the last 20 years about building a new bridge across the Niagara River to Canada
They are still talking....
Another point of comparison between Japan and the US will be the rebuild. How is New Orleans doing these days?
it would take us 4 months, with all the permits and the contract requirements.
Two-word environmental statements...”Build it!”
True, now highway improvement projects can take years. Near San Antonio, we've watched the same stretches of highways under "improvement" take over 20 years. We've gotten so used to it that we now look at miles of orange cones and concrete barricades as part of the "improvements".
Now how’d they do that without $1 Billion in foreign aid from the U.S. ?
And yet New Orleans’s is still a cesspool years later.
When the big earthquake hit the Los Angelos area and the government waived environmental impact studies, the roads were repaired in about 1/4 the time estimated on an already rushed schedule.
Environmental impact studies are a waste of time and money.
Holy! If that were in California, Calpers would still be at it for 10 months.
In Louisiana, the orange cone is considered to be the unofficial state flag.
Yes we did things like that until, we dumbed down for the idiot minority contractors and Union freeloader, screw the man crews.
Did they not have an idle class to fund?
“they must not have unions there... “
Beat me, my thoughts before even opening the post !
Great! I guess. If I knew what you were talking about.
