Norton: Democrats sold out D.C. in spending deal
Washington Times ^ | 4/9/20111 | Stephen Dinan

Washington’s representative to Congress said Saturday she feels like the city was the victim of a “sellout” by Democrats in Friday night’s spending negotiations after the District of Columbia was the focus for two of the biggest policy fights.

President Obama signed off on restricting the city from using its own taxpayer money to fund abortions, and agreed to restore the city’s school voucher program, which is popular with parents but opposed by many elected officials.

We knew that the House Republicans were on the attack when they took our vote in the Committee of the Whole on the first day of this Congress. What we did not anticipate was that the administration and Senate Democrats would roll over and use our right to self-govern as a bargaining chip,” said Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton, a Democrat and the city’s non-voting representative in Congress.

In a sternly worded statement Saturday afternoon Mrs. Norton said city residents have “every reason to be angry” with the White House and Senate Democrats. She said she didn’t even know the restrictions were accepted until she saw it in press reports.

The Left definitely needs a third party to combat these DINOs.

Where to I donate?

How many voting seats in Congress do they have? Zero.

...our right to self-govern...

The District of Columbia has no right to self-govern. It is a Federal Enclave which Congress is required by the Constitution to administer.

-——Washington’s representative to Congress-——

That is a lie. She is nothing but Black window dressing. Her attitude, her lice cut hair, her presence is all just an outdated and superfluous show. She’s trivial, nothing but wannabe or wishIwas

Whatever. A majority of DC will vote Democrat like it always does. They fully deserve any and all shortchanging that comes from the Democrat party.

I will never understand to this day why anyone in the GOP thinks that anything that benefits like DC, such as school choice, are worth fighting for.

In 1776, no one ever envisioned income taxes coming to America. So here we are....and we have a case of “no taxation without representation” in front of us. Personally...I’d like to carve off about fifty percent of the District (give it to Maryland), and try to fix this entire problem.

Sorry, Eleanor, but you are a delegate. You should not be voting in the Committee of the Whole. If you want to be a representative, move to Maryland and run.

Well I live in Maryland, and we have enough DC refugee trash in Md. now without adding any more.

PG is filled with garbage that ran out of DC when they got their affirmative action jobs and got rich off the Gubment then came out to Maryland and trashed that county.

Thge last thing we need is an ugly racist crone like Eleonor Holmes Norton out here screwing up whats left.

These DC minorities have been indoctrinated for so long that they can't even comprehend what Mzzzz Norton is saying!!! She's downright p*ssed off that:

* they aren't going to be allowed to kill more black babies with taxpayer money

AND

* they will now have to allow more black kids to get out of da hood by letting parents have a choice in which schools to send their children.

It is beyond pathetic that she can make a statement like this and suffer no political ramifications from "her people".....

As a DC resident, I couldn’t be happier at Ms Norton’s discomfiture.

Personally I think the City of Washington DC could be seen as unconstitutional. I don’t believe it was ever meant to be a place of permanent residence for leeches.

I guess I see it as a place intended to be a federal reserve with temporary housing for elected officials.

Right. Except for the federal core, the whole place should be handed back to Maryland.

“...the city’s school voucher program, which is popular with parents but opposed by many elected officials.” who are owned lock, stock and barrel by the utterly corrupt teachers unions in DC.

Freely translated: Eleanor says is that it’s OK for DC officials to “sell out” DC residents, but not OK for the GOP and Administration to ‘sell out’ DC officials and abortion mills.

Perhaps they should just allow post-partum abortion up to age 18 in DC, as opposed to just slaughtering each other with “illegal” guns.

That way if a 16 y/o “fetus” gangbanger committed a carjacking or rape he could be legally “aborted” and save vast amounts of taxpayer dollars.

Gee thanks, neighbor, but we’ll let you incorporate DC into NoVA instead. Their overflow has done enough damage to us as it is.
