Sarah Palin Reportedly Quits Bus Tour Halfway Through
TPM ^ | June 22, 2011 | Jillian Rayfield

Former half-term Gov. Sarah Palin has reportedly packed in her bus tour...halfway through.

Real Clear Politics is reporting that Palin and her family have returned to Alaska from their "One Nation" bus tour, despite tentatively scheduled stops in Iowa and South Carolina.

From Scott Conroy at RCP:

Though Palin and her staff never announced a timeline for the remaining legs of her trip, aides had drafted preliminary itineraries that would have taken her through the Midwest and Southeast at some point this month. But those travel blueprints are now in limbo, RCP has learned, as Palin and her family have reverted to the friendly confines of summertime Alaska, where the skies are currently alight for over 19 hours a day and the Bristol Bay salmon fishing season is nearing its peak.

Palin's intent to visit Iowa and South Carolina, as well as one stop in New Hampshire, caused some speculation that she was starting to get serious about a run for president in 2012.

The bus tour was launched over Memorial Day weekend, and was particularly scrutinized after one event in Boston where Palin badly flubbed the story behind Paul Revere's ride.

I bet she is negotiating the outcome of the GOP primary with Rick Parry. To what end, I do not know.

Secretary of Energy, I bet. And it would be the right thing for her. A good performance there would put to rest a lot of the inexperience/quitter chatter. A Senate or House seat would be good too, but the Alaskans seem so pissed at her that it appears to be out of the question for the time being, and a loss in her home state would be highly damaging. So a Cabinet post is the best option for her.

Can you imagine what a strong position she'd be in as a highly successful two-term Governor and/or Senator in say, 2020 or 2024, who told John McLame to take a hike when he tried to pull her up from the JV too soon?

That would make sense, the family has to get back to WORK, a concept foreign to Northeastern red-diaper doper trust fund babies;)

They're utterly shameless, aren't they?

They're wrong. They know it. They lie.

How do you quit a bus tour when you have no scheduled stops or time frame?

LOL. Supposedly, she and entourage were "out-witting" the media by not having an itinerary. They also reportedly drove crazy to try to lose the paparazzi. Now that they get no publicity, what is the point of the "family vacation?" LMAO.

“You forgot to bow and chant. Anything less is a blood libel attack.”

I noticed that too - I didn’t state clearly that I had just performed oblations before posting. As much as I like her and as smart as I think she actually is, worshiping her as a goddess that’s going to arrive and save everyone and fix everything is going to disappoint many of those who do in the long run. And it’s not something I think she’d be comfortable with or encourage anyway.

“They are working on it as we speak.”

They are? You seem to have some sort of insight into the as-yet-to-be-determined campaign. You make statements of fact concerning the woman. Who are you, a campaign operative?

At the price of fuel, I don't blame her.

What a great way of pointing out what bad shape this country is in....

Bwahahahaha! Sarah is driving them nuts! They can't make her do what they want her to do. She just refuses to fit into the MSM's mold! I love it!

You simply do not warn the enemy in a time of war. If he was doing so, he would have been a traitor, rather than the hero we revere today.

I guess you didn't read Revere's letter, Rob. The British officers were holding a gun to his head at the time and Revere spilled his guts, albeit inflating the numbers of minutemen who were waiting on them.

and the Bristol Bay salmon fishing season is nearing its peak.”

If the cancelation was done without consulting her aides, it would come off as taking their hard work for granted.

///
i wouldn’t even make false “straw man” accusations against OBAMA. what’s up with this? next you will say
“If the cancelation was done without paying her aides... ?”

the original piece is clearly anti-Palin, with the Revere slam. there is NO indication, that her aides weren’t fully informed. ...it is only the media she leaves guessing.

...after 2.5 years, i expect this from libs. not here.

"No, she did not nail the facts. That letter described how Revere told the British that there would be 500 Americans waiting for them as a result of his efforts. He told them this after having been captured, held at gun point and asked for information. He had no initial intention of getting caught and certainly had no intentions to tell the British what our troop strength was, though he was probably feeding them misinformation to give them pause. Basically, he was NOT warning the British. You simply do not warn the enemy in a time of war. If he was doing so, he would have been a traitor, rather than the hero we revere today."

Perhaps his intent when he set out was not to warn the Redcoats, but he in fact did warn or inform them (I'm not sure of the reason for quibbling over that word, a warning is not necessarily meant to be helpful), if you take Revere at his word.

"When I got there, out started six officers on horseback and ordered me to dismount. One of them, who appeared to have the command, examined me, where I came from and what my name was. I told him. He asked me if I was an express. I answered in the affirmative. He demanded what time I left Boston. I told him, and added that their troops had catched aground in passing the river, and that there would be five hundred Americans there in a short time, for I had alarmed the country all the way up. He immediately rode towards those who stopped us, when all five of them came down upon a full gallop. One of them, whom I afterwards found to be a Major Mitchel, of the 5th Regiment, clapped his pistol to my head, called me by name and told me he was going to ask me some questions, and if I did not give him true answers, he would blow my brains out. He then asked me similar questions to those above."
- Paul Revere

We were not yet at war, and Revere may have wanted to avoid all out war by warning the Redcoats that we were prepared, while also delaying any Redcoat advance long enough that our side really would be prepared. Sarah's answer was accurate.
