Will Reid & RINO's Follow Obamacare Legislation Path to Get Budget Deal Done?

As Americans watch the House battle with the Senate over Obama's desire to raise the debt ceiling, one important thing the MSM refuses to report is that the Senate under Harry Reid has not passed a budget bill in over 800 days. Yet the government has spent $7.3 trillion over that same period of time. Plus, Obama and the Democrats have added $3.2 trillion to the debt since the Democrats last passed a budget over 2 years ago. In the meantime, the House has voted on and passed two budget bills in the last 30 days. Boehner and the Republicans need to be watchful of Harry Reid's attempt to usurp the House of Representatives' constitutional authority, thus making them null and void when it comes to taxing and spending legislation. I am speaking of Harry Reid's attempt to do the same thing to the debt-ceiling legislation that he did to the healthcare legislation. Allow me to set this up so that those who are not familiar with the health care debate will be able to follow me.

To begin with, according to Article 1 Section 7 of the United States Constitution, any and all legislation that spends money or raises revenue, must be introduced by the House of representatives. For those who think otherwise, I offer the following statement by Hamilton, which was used as the basis for this rule. Hamilton wrote in Federalist 66;

"The exclusive privilege of originating money bills will belong to the House of Representatives."

Without a doubt, taxation and spending bills are the most contentious and potentially troublesome types of bills. The founding fathers believed that the legislative body closest to the people would be the most sensitive to what the citizens demand, so it should be incumbent upon the House of Representatives, "The Peoples House," to control the purse strings of the government. Now that America is suffering under one of the worst recessions since the great depression, and because times are hard, the citizens are demanding common sense from those who are in control of the government.

Logic says that if we the people are being forced to cut back and pinch pennies due to the increasing cost of living, then it only makes sense that our elected officials should also rein in the out-of-control spending by the government. That being said, it has always been difficult to get the 536 elected politicians in Washington to agree upon what is a sensible budget for the government they control. That's why the biggest political battles in congressional history have come down to what the government can and cannot do when it comes to spending, and the revenue needed for that spending. At no time in our history has that debate been more contentious between the people and the politicians we elected than during the debate over Obamacare in 2010.

The fight over Obamacare was a turning point in how the two houses related to legislation that concerned spending. Even with enough Democrats elected to Congress that no Republicans were needed to help pass the legislation, the House Democrats could not agree on a health care bill that was able to pass both houses. So the Democrat controlled Senate switched the language in the legislation passed by the House (H.R. 3590) and replaced it with none other than the Senate version of the healthcare bill which ultimately took over 1/7th of the American economy. This way the Democrats were able to satisfy the requirement for all tax-raising legislation to originate in the House by cloaking their bill as the original. Below is the genesis of the Senate's bypassing the constitutional requirement of all spending bills originating in the House. For the record, the Republicans did challenge this amendment substitution, but were defeated.

10/8/2009:
Received in the Senate. Read the first time. Placed on Senate Legislative Calendar under Read the First Time.
10/13/2009: Read the second time. Placed on Senate Legislative Calendar under General Orders. Calendar No. 175.
11/19/2009: Motion to proceed to consideration of measure made in Senate. (consideration: CR S11578)
11/19/2009: Cloture motion on the motion to proceed to the bill presented in Senate. (consideration: CR S11578; text: CR S11578)
11/20/2009: Motion to proceed to consideration of measure considered in Senate. (consideration: CR S11826-11879, S11888-11903)
11/21/2009: Motion to proceed to consideration of measure considered in Senate. (consideration: CR S11907-11967)
11/21/2009: Cloture on the motion to proceed to the bill invoked in Senate by Yea-Nay Vote. 60 - 39. Record Vote Number: 353. (consideration: CR S11967; text: CR S11967)

11/21/2009: Motion to proceed to consideration of measure agreed to in Senate by Unanimous Consent.
11/21/2009: Measure laid before Senate by motion. (consideration: CR S11967)
11/21/2009: S.AMDT.2786 Amendment SA 2786 proposed by Senator Reid. (consideration: CR S11967)

So while we are currently pinning our hopes on those who have been appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court to declare Obamacare unconstitutional, we now find ourselves in a similar position with the current budget/debt ceiling debate. The difference is that Republicans now control the House of Representatives, but the leadership seems to be bent on doing business as usual, which means that the leadership, i.e. John Boehner and others, would rather give Obama and the Democrats what they want.

So we have a bill that passed the House of Representatives, and that Harry Reid and the Democrats do not like. Normally that would mean the House would either craft another bill, or allow the government to shut down until the Democrats capitulate. Unfortunately, the precedent was set by the Senate last year during the healthcare debate. It seems as if Harry Reid and the Democrats are prepared to use the same unconstitutional tactic to get what they want in the debt ceiling debate..

From the way I see things shaping up, Harry Reid wants to change the House bill by adding an amendment similar to the one he added to the healthcare bill last year. Then, if he gets it passed in the Senate, he will send it back to the House for an up or down vote. What with the MSM on his side, I expect all hell to break lose with the RINO leadership jumping on the bandwagon to smear any Republican who refuses to go along and vote for the revised bill. I expect them to again pressure the Tea Party freshmen by calling them evil-mean-racist hobbits who could not care less if the world ends tomorrow.
.

Mark my words, if the Senate RINOs allow Reid to use the same tactic, Boehner will allow a vote in the House. Then get ready for enough RINOs to join the Democrats that they will not need any Tea Party Republicans to pass it. This is what Obama, Reid, and the RINOs seem to be pinning their hopes on. Thus Obama would get his extra trillions to spend with imaginary cuts, real tax increases, and a leg up in his re-election bid.

They say that those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it. I pray that this is not what they have in store for us, but just in case, it is up to us to continue calling and reminding them what will happen if they cave. As Sarah said, we still believe in contested primaries. Let us all pray that this is not what they have planned for us.

They are scared to death that if they get blamed for a government shutdown of non essential services they will lose their cushy jobs.

Article Ping!

We have all watched the RINO leadership make deal after deal with the Democrats throughout the years that proved very detrimental to the well being of the country. Now more than ever we need to remind the Republicans why they must not cave. In this article I point out how Harry Reid and the Democrats could very well be in the process of trying to use the same tactic they used to pass Obamacare last year, to get the debt deal through the House.----------------------

Maybe they’ll just “deem” it passed.

Or just decide it’s too important and let Obama do whatever the hell he wants to. You know he’s itching to use his unique brilliance and intelligence to save us from ourselves.

If Republicans had any spine or sense of duty they would refuse to vote on any budget plan until 0bamaCare is repealed.

Turbo tax Timmeh, has plundered the pensions of Federal employee’s, Just like Social Security, the Thrift Savings Plan is now an I.O.U. Just Like Bernie Madoff when statements go out they report non-exsistant funds and gains.
Of Course congress will follow the Obamacare path, in the dead of night, they will force a credit limit increase because it’s not their money, and somehow they have immunity for malfesence.

Wrong!

The ball is now in Harry and the democrats court. (The senate) We have yet to see any bill pass both houses.

All that happened last night was the US Senate tabling the House bill. They then went on TV to complain about the Republicans obstructing the ability of the world to continue.

We are back to where we were yesterday morning before the House passed Boehner’s revised version of his last bill.

Here are two more ways to drastically cut government expenditures and take huge burdens off of the private sector.

Sky-high hole blown in AGW theory?

Drop the whole CO2 scam being perpetrated on the energy industry.

End of story. BTW they won't ever repeal it. Repeal Sen Nelson for this ever passing.

What I was referring to was Boehner seducing the fresh faces in the House to pass his bill and send it to the Senate, when Reid, et al had declared it DOA before they even passed it. It was not compulsary for Boehner to submit anything else to the Senate. The House has akready passed CC&B and sent IT over!

As I see it, Boehner is so anxious to fold and give Obluffer what he wants, that all he cares about is getting SOMETHING over to the Senate that Reid and the Senate RINOs can mutilate and morph into a GIVEAWAY for Obluffer, and send it back to the House for Boehner armtwist his people to rubber stamp it.

Boehner has already SEDUCED the fresh faced TEA Party freshmen, yesterday! It will be much easier to do it again when the Boehner-3 Bill, now morphed into the Reid-McConnell Bill, comes back to the House, dripping with a big pork grease Debt Ceiling Increase for Obluffer to blow on more Marxist schemes!

It is amazing to me what a whimp Boehner can appear to be when it comes to standing his ground against Obluffer, Reid, et al; an then see him turn right around and be such a mean, overbearing hardass when it comes to seducing his colleagues in the House, and virtually compelling them to sell out their principles, bend over and grab their ankles in order to hand a victory to Obluffer, and $Trillions more National Debt on to us and our progeny.

The only explanation HAS TO BE that his appearing to stand up to the big spenders is a ruse; a lie! The proof is that the end product is going to be a Giveaway Bill that comes back to the House, that Boehner and company will be COMPELLED to pass, or be the OBVIOUS villians who will have caused a default! And Boehner KNOWS IT, or else he would have stood pat and held firm for the CC&B that he had ALREADY sent to the Senate!

My Mama didn’t name me THOMAS for nuthin’!!! And I was born at night; but IT WASN’T LAST NIGHT!!

I hear nada from the GOP on repeal of Obamacare. There is one item that will budget the debt just by itself. The FOP has done nada to get beck the $500K O pulled from Medicare and put under Obamacare, so who is really wrecking the debt / ceiling?

I do hear the GOP talking about increased Medicare payments, decreased SSI payments or raising the age / payments (as they allow illegals to collect SSI)and increasing the cost of Health Care for Government retirees and Pensioners. End result? The GOP will force these people into Obamacare based on their increased costs and deminished benefits.

RESULT, we are or will be ALL screwed by the Dems and the GOP! JMO
