I’m a native of Houston, and while parts of it could certainly be considered ‘bad’, it’s no Detroit, New Orleans (unless you count awesome food), or anywhere in Mexico.

I’ve had my truck broken into twice in the last 10 years. Once in front of my dads house in the suburbs, and once at the baseball stadium in downtown (the Astros were good then, I think it was 2000? 2001?).

Heat - that’s why there’s a/c
Humidity - hell, we’ve topped 100F for over two weeks, and nary a drop of rain for months on end at my place
Crime - I live in the country, unincorporated county, and while I’ve had a few things stolen off my porch, nothing I can’t live without, so I’m praying they needed it more than I did.

Every city has good and bad. If you’re in LA, Chicago or NY, your traffic is worse - as it should be. Houston metro has almost 6 million folks, most who live spread out in the suburbs, or like me, in the boonies. It’s going to have traffic. Just leave a little early, or shift your hours and you’re good to go.

Not one of the “towns” in Texas are not already boom towns. These are megacities.

As I’ve stated to others....tell it to Forbes...having said that they didn’t just pull this out of a hat...if you’ll read the article you’ll understand why they are calling them boom towns...stats did it...

Well, I’d say the biggest jobs boom is in the inner urban cities.....crime scene cops, coroners, (NO CSI because we already know-but-won’t-say the motives), morticians, funeral directors, grave diggers, coffin manufacturers, florists and wake caterers......bidness is good!

Will Obama blame this on the Japanese tsunami?

I think he'll blame this on ATM machines.

Not one of the “towns” in Texas are not already boom towns. These are megacities.

The DFW Metroplex consists of 25 (probably more) small cities and towns, and that's where the growth is. 'Burbs such as Irving, Southlake, Mansfield, Euless, Plano, Allen, et al are integral parts of the Metroplex.

Dallas is very liberal, while the 'Burbs are very conservative.

Dallas simply benefits by the vitality of the communities that surround it.

Downtown Dallas will look like Detroit in about 20 years.

How can there be 4 towns on the list from Texas, considering all of the jobs pay minimum wage? I mean hell, every single person in Texas is paid minimum wage according to CNN. So it has to be true. Obama-Biden 2012.

Sincerely,

Charleston, SC might have been on the list if it wasn’t for the NLRB.

#4 San Antonio

Oh crap! I moved 40 miles out of town to get away from the constant push for development and now some jacka$$ wants to draw more people to the area?

I am sure you are right...nice conservative Governor is helping to have the right environment for jobs and a good economy....they may have to adjust that before long.

Hey, San Antonio has been on the list for a number of years in the top 10 as the best place to live in America. So this list is nothing compared to the past list San Antonio has been on. In fact, it was the only Texas city on that top 10 list.

This is old and previously posted.

I remember commenting on it in July when it was new.
