Santorum to Palin: A little help, please?
HotAir ^ | Ed Morrissey

Would Palin endorse Santorum? -snip-

I doubt Palin will endorse anyone at all. Palin’s backers and her own political positions and temperament put her closer to Herman Cain, but she’s also campaigned for Rick Perry in the past, too. She’s certainly not going to back Ron Paul or Newt Gingrich, and Michele Bachmann has faded so badly that Palin won’t want to risk her remaining political credibility by endorsing someone who can’t make it out of the first round. The same holds true for Santorum, even if she was willing to forgive the shot he fired last February; after bowing out of the race and angering some of her backers, she just can’t afford to make an endorsement that ends up not mattering at all. Both Cain and Perry are risky, too, for different reasons. Only Mitt Romney is a safe bet to go deep into the primaries, and Mitt represents the kind of establishment candidate that Palin usually abhors.

Palin's choice:

"I will diminish, and go into the West, and remain Galadriel."

; )

More power to her. And yes, her influence will decline significantly. I don't blame her one bit, she was subjected to a "virtual crucifixion" by the soulless socialists.

“I would think Cain and Bachmann.”

Cain, maybe. Bachmann, highly unlikely. First off, Bachmann’s campaign is about done-she went over the cliff when she hyperventilated on all the Gardisil stuff. Second, I don’t get the impression that Palin was ever all that close with Bachmann.

My guess is she’s waiting for one of the true conservatives to emerge from the pack and for the rest of the herd to thin out a bit. When it’s apparent who is the candidate that is in the best position to knock out Romney, that is probably who she’ll endorse. At this point, that would be Mr Cain, who Sarah has said she likes. But if Perry gets things turned around, I wouldn’t be a bit surprised to see her endorse him.

I know some here probably don’t want to believe that she would endorse Perry, but they are good friends and she has endorsed candidates in the past with fewer conservative credentials than Perry. For example, McCain, Carly Fiorina, and Kelly Ayotte in 2010 just to name a few.

Bottom line-I think she’ll endorse at some point, but probably not until a ways into the primaries and at the time when it can do the most damage to RINO Romney.

IMO Santorum is too deeply rooted in the stench of Beltway political culture for Palin to endorse him.

Considering things the way they are, I think Palin might be unsure how things will play out. So I think Palin is unsure on who to endorse. But if Herman Cain’s momentum keeps up then she has no choice but to endorse him. If this is the case and then the question would be when to endorse him. If She were first then she could set a precedence.

I think Bachmann was in a bad situation. I had suspected all along that half the potential base of hers was waiting for Palin to make up her mind. Then Herman Cain started to gain traction and took her base. Meanwhile, Rick Perry also stole thunder. Then she just faded. my opinion was she was fading away since the Iowa Straw Poll win no matter what she did. At that point people disagreed on what her strategy should be. Some wanted her to after Perry. It backfired on her. But then Perry imploded as well.

Palin has always been a “high political risk”.

2010 Election cycle:

Total endorsements: 64

Won: 33

“Every damn one of them stabbed her in the back”

Say a little more about that. That was something I wasn’t paying attention to.

It’s a fact that no one but her adoring fans were endorsing for for President. No public figures came forth. On the other hand, it’s early for many of them to endorse anyone.

” [chain] we must pull to flush the Congressional bowl”

Oh yes, she mentioned that also in her Hannity interview. She stressed the importance of getting a Republican majoriity both houses.

“She stressed the importance of getting a Republican majoriity both houses.”

I sincerely hope that will be her focus.

Have to clean out the Dems, and RINO’s because of their status as either self serving without a care about this country as long as they get what they want for themselves sorts, or actually stealth Democrats deceitfully flying the ‘R’ colors.

Flush ‘em. Three election cycles minimum, maybe four to clean that Congressional bowl. Make it Tidy, but not blue.

Palin is history and the GOP with her. They have lost the independents. An independent would be hard to convince to watch the “Undefeated” Consider Gov Palin just another politician.

Second, if Palin endorses a candidate and he/she loses the primary, Palin’s influence and endorsement is diminished.

She’s known as a “kingmaker” and a kingmaker MUST endorse someone. If she fails in those she deems worthy that would make her a lousy kingmaker.

I think she'll endorse someone if it looks like it will help stop Mitt Romney.

That's a pretty good record especially when you remember that most of those who lost that she endorsed were expected to lose big time.

Yeah. Kind of dispels the assessment that a Palin endorsement has "always been a high political risk".

It seems to me the evidence suggests that her support carries a low to moderately low political risk.

But, hey, I'm not a Palin hater so....

He sure did. He’s got a hell of a nerve asking for her endorsement. I don’t expect her to be petty in this regard and hold it against him at this crucial point, but I also don’t think he’s very bright, and that’s going to limit her enthusiasm in endorsing him.

I add those numbers up and only get 53...

Ah, checked the link and see that 10 of her endorsees lost in the primary. Still a .516 makes for a very impressive batting average.

The later Palin waits the less her endorsement matters. However, I have my doubts she'll endorse anyone. I heard her on Hannity and she had a short list of important factors a candidate must have and a proven record on each of her points and it pointed directly to Perry.

This kind of precludes any serious reponse from me, don’t you think?
