The 'Stop Rubio' Movement Starts

Media: Does the Washington Post ever consult a dictionary? In what looks like an effort to lasso Republican Sen. Marco Rubio's rising star, they've built a shoddy two-story attack on a faulty definition of "exile."

It started Oct. 20 when, on the front page, the Post headlined, "Marco Rubio's compelling family story embellishes facts, documents show." The hit piece, by Manuel Roig-Franzia, cited Rubio's repeated self-reference as the "son of exiles," saving the "Gotcha!" for the second paragraph:

"The documents show that Rubio's parents came to the United States and were admitted for permanent residence more than two-and-a-half years before Castro's forces overthrew the Cuban government and took power on New Year's Day 1959."

There followed a lengthy story in which the Reaganesque Rubio, elected in 2009 from Florida and already touted as a 2012 vice presidential contender, fell back on an explanation that he'd been relying on family lore while solidifying his identity with Cuban-American voters.

"They were from Cuba," retorted an indignant Rubio. "They wanted to live in Cuba again. They tried to live in Cuba again, and the reality of what it was made that impossible."

Rubio's looser account, based on oral family history, is verifiable, if foggy in a manner familiar to amateur genealogists, but didn't seem to register as Roig-Franzia went about creating a portrait of the rising GOP star as a mendacious fabricator. Weirdly, he was able to build the story only on a top-line definition of "exile."

Let them try. The backlash will cause them whiplash, and I hope it’s chronic.

Over the last 3-4 weeks, the Wash. Post has run a series of smear aticles on Cain, Rubio, our troops in Afghanistan, the treatment of veterans, the police, the Tea Party, etc.

However, they are also covering up for Janet Napolitano and Kathleen Sebelius, Secy of Energy Chu, and others at the highest levels of govt, including AG Holder.

This is not an accident. It is a planned attack on those who stand for America. The New York Times is running its own parallel campaign.

And it is a planned coverup of the corruption and incompetence in the Obama regime.

Reports by Congress and other governmental agencies that point out serious administration flawed programs and screw-ups (Fast & Furious, Solyndra et al, crime in our border areas, the infiltration of the Moslem Brotherhood into the American governmental body, etc). are clipped, have parts left out or underplayed, misinterpreted or deliberately misinterpreted (i.e. disinformation).

Watch and you will see much more of this in the next few weeks.

Rubio is his own man. The media can concoct whatever lies they like and Marco will withstand them.

From the article:

How can he be a vice presidential contender when he is not a Natural Born Citizen as required by the Constitution? His parents were NOT citizens when he was born.

What part of “exile” don’t these morons understand?

When you leave the land of your birth for political reasons (I can assure the Compost that many, many Cubans saw the writing on the wall years before Castro seized power) and you can never return to live there as a citizen, you are an EXILE.

So, the Jews that left Europe in 1929, 1930, 1932, etc. were not exiles because Hitler had not yet come into power? Despite persecutions and pogroms? When they were successful in reaching America they were what? Tourists?

The reasoning of the lefties on this one is ludicrous. I hope Pat Buchanan sets them all right with a couple of good history lessons.

Who will be the brave journalist that reports what’s in the closets of these liberal newspaper editors, reporters and owners. I’d like to know who’s cheating on their wives, who’s gay, who had abortions, who was talking behind obama, pelosi & reeds back....... We have to learn how to fight evil & his cohorts. They report on hollywood, so they don’t only report on politicians. Why not the leftist media? I’d buy those papers at the grocery checkouts.

Yes, he was born here to parents who were here legally, thus is a citizen - even a native born citizen. The fact that his parents were not U.S. citizens means he is not a natural born citizen.

The real damage to Rubio’s reputation has been self inflicted by his association with Romney.

Dream on. The MSM will continue to spew lies and the truth will be buried. It worked with Palin; it'll work with Rubio. Anyone perceived as a threat to the progressive agenda will be targeted by the MSM for a barrage of vitriol, and the loathsome 52% who sent out current village idiot to the White House will sop it up.

Marco Rubio himself began the stop Rubio movement.

Not some democrat strategist.

Not some leftard newspaper hack.

Not a Republican rival.

Not a disgruntled former staffer.

Not a poster on an internet forum.

Not a spiteful dumped girlfriend.

No, plain old Marco Rubio began the “Stop Rubio” movement all by himself. Completely without any outside aid of any kind.

The “Stop Rubio” movement began when Rubio began to hem and haw about amnesty for illegals in the manner of Lindsay Graham and John McCain.

His parents were NOT citizens when he was born.

Obama's father was on a student visa, and never even applied for US citizenship. Obama's mother was underage when Barry was born. If Obama can sit in the White House, I see no problem with Rubio. At least we know for sure Rubio was born on American soil.
