David Cash was also "clean" as far as the law required. Maybe Fred would put him on his heroes list too if he can teach frat boys the end round?

Turn and look the other way while children were being forcibly sodomized in his facilities. That's what he did.

This whole "I told the AD and left it at that" BS is, well, BS. When the time came for Paterno and McQueary to do the right thing and stop this queer predator, they put their hands in their pockets and shrugged their shoulders for 9 damn years. McQueary got a raise and a spot on the coaching staff and Joe-Pa kept on like nothing had happened.

And for the rest that are acting as if Paterno and McQueary's halos are still unblemished for doing the bare minimum, let's think about something: Had McQueary (after witnessing the rape of a 10 year old child by Sandusky in the Pedo State facilities) gone to the police instead of his damn daddy, this predator would have been stopped 9 years ago and this would not be an issue today. To go one step further, had McQueary manned up and beat Sandusky's brains in to get him off of that child, this would not be an issue today. Had Paterno exercised some morals and leadership after seeing the university staff do nothing, this would not be an issue today.

But, no, they did none of those things. McQueary went to his daddy and both of them went to Paterno who kicked it up the line and washed his hands of it.

For that alone, Paterno and McQueary can burn in Hell with the whole corrupt bunch from that cesspit of a school.

When you make college sports a religion..........

Sorry to disagree, but...

Growing up in the South, football WAS/IS/And ever shall be, a religion.

Hell, I knew a woman who told her daughter to break up with the daughter's boyfriend because he did not wear a tie to the Auburn vs. Alabama football game in 1965.

What is missing is no respect. For anything. And no self discipline.

Football, or any sport, was a contest where you respected your opponents. There never was a "taunting rule" because teams who were bitter rivals still respected each other.

Schools used to teach right from wrong.

Schools used to have Bible readings and a prayer every morning.

Schools used to have their sports teams gather in a large huddle and say the Lord's Prayer before games.

But most importantly, if you were doing, had done, or were thinking about doing something wrong, your contemporaries and school authorities held you accountable immediately.

They did not report to someone else, they immediately hit you with a "What the Hell do you think you're doing?" and trot you off for immediate punishment.

Football as a religion is good, but only if your moral compass isn't totally missing in action.

Exactly. I hope we find out what Paterno knew, and when he knew it. Let the chips fall where they may.

That’s out of 45,000 students, so it doesn’t imply that’s the feelings of the vast majority of Penn State student.

Paterno did not see a crime in progress that he failed to stop. This is not a subtle distinction. If you aren’t capable of understanding moral issues, don’t post on those topics.

I hope the Judge you're talking about understands arithmetic better than you do. The time interval between the incident and the criminal referral was less than five years.

what facts were used to hang this man that you and others like you used to hang him, spell out the law he broke

he reported on what he had heard, second hand at that, to who he should have

you and the rest condeming him here are nothing more than the same as liberal minded head hunts

If you aren’t capable of understanding moral issues

If it weren't such a sick and disturbing topic, that would have been downright hilariously ironic coming from one of you JoePalogists

So you think contact = fondling = rape. Thanks for the tip. I’ll know to pay no respect whatsoever to your ravings on this or any other topic in the future.

Before you tell other people what they think, you might want to practice up a little on how to do same for yourself there, Fred.

I don't need to reflect on my own beliefs when yours are so transparently stupid.

Paterno was not told there was a rape. That is his testimony to the Grand Jury, which the Grand Jury evidently believed, because it indicted two others for conflicting testimony which they considered perjurious. Today, the Pennsylvania AJ herself questioned why Paterno was fired, whom she described as a "cooperating witness," while others more culpable were not.

So, either you think Paterno is lying (the Grand Jury and AJ think otherwise, and unlike you, they have actually heard the testimony) or you think there is no difference between inappropriate sexual contact (what Paterno was told of) and rape.

Your original missive to me equated Joe Paterno to David Cash Jr. Your inability to understand that someone who is told of a crime days later -- and in this case was told of a far lesser crime than is warranted by your comparison -- and a person who actually witnesses a crime in progress and does nothing to stop it is a false equivalence. If you believe this equivalence, it suggests that morally you are a savage. Please tell me what part of my analysis is mistaken.
