I am PROUD to say I have never spent a dime, or 2 minutes on an Ann Coulter book. Although I was tempted once at the $2 or less bin at a “Half Priced Book” store once.

Even Reagan was not Reagan. Had marines with no bullets in Beirut, which dwarfs Benghazi.

I was one of those Marines, omega4179, and you are right. That said, I still love Ronald Reagan to this day. Reagan was not perfect, but he was the right leader to pull us out of the malaise of Vietnam, Watergate and Jimmy Carter. Fortunately, 1980 America recognized him as the man of the hour.

I agree with Ann Coulter that Mitt Romney was NOT the problem this year. If Romney failed to attract and motivate Conservatives who failed to show up against Barack Obama, that just proves that the real problem lies with those so-called "Conservatives" and not with Mitt Romney. Those indolent dumbasses deserve whatever they get for their stubbornness, but we'll all pay.

It is my sad conclusion that not even Ronald Wilson Reagan would have won this year. 2012 America has gone on the dole, and now prefers Santa Claus to freedom and solvency. As Rush Limbaugh concluded last week (and I paraphrase): "We have passed the point where words and ideas can save us; we have now reached the point where only events can save us." Cataclysmic events lie ahead...

The worst part is Reagan could never have been allowed to be the nominee by the elite running the Republican Party today.

If you are going to keep blaming Reagan for having those two guards not keep their magazines in their rifles, and make those two guards the reason for the Marines allowing their base to be blown up, by a single guy in a truck, then I want to see some proof.

Frankly, I thought this then, and I think this now, it was a Marine base, Reagan was not guarding the gate.

Plenty of FReepers are still in denial on this point. The national mentality has shifted under our feet. It will take a crisis and will be devastating if not downright fatal.

So the guards woke up one morning and decided to leave their magazines stored away?

The Marines were ORDERED to go in soft. What don’t you understand? Babysitting was the compromise Reagan DECIDED upon between the Shultz/Weinberger infighting. Any ROE was rubber stamped from on high, Chain of Command, Presidents are ultimately responsible for that, part of their job requirement and should not be taken for granted.

I know they have plenty of O'Reilly's books, best used as a fire starter now.

Mostly I think the libraries can't even give these books away themselves.

Sort of like Wendell Willkie's One World (New York: Simon & Schuster, 1943)--a globalist manifesto that was a spectacular bestseller when it came out but by the 1960's was showing up in big numbers at used book sales and in junk shops, where it couldn't be given away.

Just two years ago, the Republicans, spearheaded by the Tea Party, elected 60+ Congressmen. How could the nation's mood change so decisively in just two years? Had we picked the right candidate, and had he run a competent campaign, we might have won.

When Rush was breaking book sales records with his first book, we had to pressure our library to purchase any.

Your library didn't have me on the staff.

There is a reason Liberarians are politically irrelevant.

Don’t disagree on Romney and his campaign being another example of GOP ineptitude and another slap in the face to conservatives. 60+ Tea Party wins in the House doesn’t reflect a mandate either. However, it’s a moot point. We have a nation of people voting in the majority more concerned with what the Federal government is going to provide them in “free” money and benefits than there are citizens who want to adhere to constitutional restrictions on that same government to ensure liberty. The nation has lost control of who is within our borders legitimately and has lost control of who is legitimately voting. We are no longer a sovereign nation with checks and balances of power bound by a common idea of individual liberties. Welcome to the New Banana Republic and idiocracy.

People should not trash Reagan and people should quit trashing Romney. Romney is irrelevant now. He’s just a guy with a beach house. Leave him alone.

That would make too much sense. People want to beat a dead horse and cling to conspiracy theories that make them out to be victims. It's pitiful and a grave distraction from the real challenges at hand.

So you think that president Reagan woke up one morning and told the guards to not keep a magazine in their rifle?

You repeatedly keep confusing “going in soft” the larger military operations, with having the guards at the gate not put a magazine in their rifles.

You also keep thinking that was the only problem with the Marine security.

Romney was the problem, he got about the same turnout as in 2008, he INCREASED his Evangelical vote, the most conservative of all voters, to 79%.

What the disaster called Romney also accomplished was to leave millions of votes on the table, by not being able to persuade any of the millions of the Obama voters who stayed home, to vote against what Obama had revealed himself to be.

Reagan would have rolled up this Jimmy Carter the second, by a landslide, Romney has always been a terrible candidate, for his entire 20 years of campaigning, and the Reagan hating liberal never belonged in the republican party.

Him becoming a republican presidential nominee is one for the history books.

Coulter didn’t “trash” Reagan.

Martin is mad at Ann for mentioning her in her column last week and disagreeing with her.

Jenny Beth Martin unsucessfully tried to be the THE leader of the Tea Party Movement in a bid to rake in money from tea partiers. And was pretty successful in that endevour.

The money part, not the leader part.

Her refusal to work with tea partiers that didn’t give her and the Tea Party Patriots undeserved respect and authority.caused a slight glitch in the TPM which it recovered from quickly.

Now she attacks Coulter and many people are following her lead.

But she's a bit boney for my tastes.

AHhhh...

You've noticed it, too.
