Have you seen GEICO's latest commercial? Where the gecko drops his tea bag in Boston Harbor and declares "I guess this party's over"?
Between President Obama, his Democratic allies and operatives including the mainstream media and the Republican establishment, the Tea Party has become a quite popular and very easy target. To hear them tell it, it is the root of all evil and all that is wrong with American politics and our political discourse today.
And this is what we've come to in the age of Obama. The declaration of the end of the great American experiment in self-governance by a cartoon character with a foreign accent representing a corporation who owes its existence and continued success to big government, declaring an end to all that generations of American patriots have fought and died to defend.

See post #12. We have been pleased with Amica also. They don’t advertise much so their rates are better.

Makes me want to seriously dislike GEICO. How about you? Considering GEICO provided a significant part of the funding to develop the laser speed gun so beloved of police traffic shakedown operations, I already disliked them.

Lighten up. This month is the 240th Anniversary of the Boston Tea Party in 1773.

"The Tea Party bit has to do with the Brit character in Boston. There are lots of things to be offended about. This isnt one of them." You may be right. But knowing the roots of this company (you can read the details in the article) then it just makes me wonder if they didn't have a double entendre in mind.

I saw it differently. I related it to the Boston Tea Party. Sort of a take on it.

A cartoon character who, if it really existed, would be a British subject, makes a reference to the Boston Tea Party and we are all so arrogant (or, perhaps, ignorant) to imagine that it is intended as a veiled insult to 21st Century fiscally conservative Americans. Really?

I guess GEICO (
Government
Employees
Insurance
COmpany) wants to piss off half of its customers.
I am dumping them anyway. My daughter was stopped in the street a guy hit her from behind. Two witnesses said it was the other guys fault. But GEICO said it was hers because when they talked to her on the phone she said "She assumed" the guy would stop after being badgered - and the genius detective determined those words meant she was at fault.
Oh and she is under 18 and they talked to her without my permisson
Dump them

They dont advertise much so their rates are better.
Back in the day, AMICA didn't advertise at all and the only way to join them was through a friend or relative's recommendation.
BTW, the first time I read their annual report, it listed all the mutual funds they were invested in and the rates of return.
I had no idea what mutual funds were, but when I became a little more educated, I used their report as a purchasing guide.

That lizard needs subtitles. I can’t understand him very well with that Eliza Doolittle cockney accent.

"I thought he was Aussie" Me too. Listen to him. He is definitely an Aussie.

I agree. I’ve seen it several times and saw it as nothing but another dumb Geico ad.

You are correct that it COULD BE construed as innocent... but they could not be so blatant as to come out and say TEA-BAGGERS SUCK could they?
With all the infinite options they had, "this party is over" with a tea bag thrown into the sea is what they went with?
I am not buying the innocent thing... you KNOW libtards are looking at it and chuckling their asses off

GEICO dropped my life insurance back in 1972 when I came back into the USMC. When I asked why, seeing that the policy had a “war clause”, they replied, “Oh, you Marines are always getting shot at even when there isn’t a declared war.”
I have not had anything to do with GEICO since.
USAA all the way!
