"Had Mitt and I Won, This Would Not Be Necessary"

The feedback continues, with a bunch of military veterans and family members asking me how I could defend the callous COLA cuts to military pensions by way of explaining why Congress is trying to undo them. Another reader email:

I strenuously object to being asked to sacrifice any more! I risked my life in two deployments to war zones, sacrificed my health (I'm also a disabled veteran), and jeopardized my relationship with my family for my country. I find Congress' latest demand a kick in the gut. We veterans and retirees have sacrificed enough without having to endure the pain of COLA cuts. Congress must first reduce the COLA for all current federal retirees (including members of Congress) and Social Security recipients and demand additional sacrifices from non-military Americans. Or better yet, I'm sure there are $6 billion that could be saved by closing corporate tax loopholes, cutting farm subsidies to wealthy corporations, etc. There are at least $6 billion in waste in the defense budget alone. The F-35 Joint Strike Fighter will cost at least $400 billion, and it doesn't even work! But military veterans and retirees should be the last group Congress asks for more sacrifice.

If I've heard this much, I can only imagine what Republicans have been getting in their voicemails and inboxes. On The Hugh Hewitt Show yesterday, Paul Ryan was handed the hideous job of defending the cuts against a host who found them morally outrageous.

"Had Mitt and I won that election, this would not be required," said Ryan. "This would not be necessary."

Hewitt wouldn't have it. "This will destroy retention," he said. "It will destroy morale, and it is deeply unfair to the American military which has sacrificed more than anyone else."

So which pro-abortion, pro-fag marriage, anti-military, anti-gun, pro-terrorist funding/arming, pro-socialized medicine candidate did you vote for?

What ever you want more of vote, for it.

Continue to vote for the above style candidates and your party will continue to run the above style candidates and no matter who wins the election - you'll end up with an above style politician.

Regan said we'd never find a candidate we agreed with 100% of the time, but if we agreed with him 75% of the time, he was our man. I concur.

I don't, and will never, vote for a candidate I don't even agree with 25% of the time.

Our "betters" in the GOPe openly proclaim Tea Party types should be punched in the nose (McConnell). You may like sticking around in your battered-wife syndrome lesser than two evils cognitive dissonance, but I don't.

Our supposed Constitutional Republic is supposed to be a representative government. Pro-abortion, pro-fag marriage, anti-military, anti-gun, pro-terrorist funding/arming, pro-socialized medicine politicians may represent you and your voting habits, but they don't represent mine.

There is nothing "conservative" over compromising values and principles - if they can be compromised, they ain't values or principles, they're preferences. And, at that point you become the proverbial Churchill whore......just haggling over price.

And for what it's worth - this bill negatively effects me personally.

You personally effectively voted for Obama. You sure can not be accused of voting for someone who beat him. And you didnt vote for anyone who ever had even a slim chance of beating him.

Absolutely you did not want your vote connected with anyone opposed to obamacare and traditional marriage you made sure you voted for those policies.

“Then why should we vote for them?”

Because by not doing so, you elected Obama. Nice going.

show the math on how that works. Since when a vote for something a literal vote for something else on the ballot?

Voting “Lesser of Two Evils” and then complaining about evil, is a stupid strategy.

I know. I was quoting Bill Bennett. It makes me sick.

The pundits carry lies and propaganda. It’s sickening.

I know Ted Cruz did not shut down the government. and if he di, so what? Good. SHut it down.

These people care so much what dem voters think of them. Cruz doesn’t care.

He did his job, and he is the only one who did his job. Well, Mike Lee.

“Odd. I didn’t check his box. Must be election fraud.”

Yes you did. You didn’t vote Republican when it was the only way to stop Obama. Now he is your Prez. Happy?

But I didn’t vote for him so my conscience is clear. I’d hate like hell to wake up every day not knowing how voting works. You can learn you know. It’s pretty simple.

Mitt had a somewhat reasonable approach to immigration. IIRC, illegal aliens had to get to the end of the line, and other things that made the crime of illegal residency not so much worth it. Not totally hard-core, but more reasonable than anything that Democrats and RINOs have come up w.

(Unless I missed something) Ryan on-the-other-hand is for amnesty (and deceitfully calls it "reform").

Ryan is no longer "vote-able" in primaries, in my humble opinion.

No, I did not elect Obama. My state went heavily Republican.

I am not a Republican. I am an independent. Mitt Romney, the lefty liar did not represent any of my views. Why would I vote for him?

I had no dog in that fight.

I am not chained to the Republican Party, they did not want, nor deserve my vote. Do you think I would ever vote for Mitch McConnell if he were their nominee in 2012? Not a chance.

If the Republican Party wants my vote, they have to give me something I can vote FOR.

It is not hard to understand.

With McConnell and Bonehead in charge, I really do not CARE at all if the Republicans lose every seat in Congress in 2014.

I really don’t.

What is the point of voting for them when you have already said they are powerless do anything even if they control the House? You basically said they shouldn’t even try to pass conservative legislation and shut down the lefty agenda.

And what would be the point of voting for THAT trainwreck??

Apparently they were pretty powerless when they had the House, Senate and White House too.

Yes you did effectively vote for Obama, and deep down in the pit of your soul, you know it. And I hate like hell waking up every morning with Obama as President. Oh, but your conscience is clear, so you must like what your President is doing to this country. Emphasis on YOUR President; he’s not mine.
