"Had Mitt and I Won, This Would Not Be Necessary"

The feedback continues, with a bunch of military veterans and family members asking me how I could defend the callous COLA cuts to military pensions by way of explaining why Congress is trying to undo them. Another reader email:

I strenuously object to being asked to sacrifice any more! I risked my life in two deployments to war zones, sacrificed my health (I'm also a disabled veteran), and jeopardized my relationship with my family for my country. I find Congress' latest demand a kick in the gut. We veterans and retirees have sacrificed enough without having to endure the pain of COLA cuts. Congress must first reduce the COLA for all current federal retirees (including members of Congress) and Social Security recipients and demand additional sacrifices from non-military Americans. Or better yet, I'm sure there are $6 billion that could be saved by closing corporate tax loopholes, cutting farm subsidies to wealthy corporations, etc. There are at least $6 billion in waste in the defense budget alone. The F-35 Joint Strike Fighter will cost at least $400 billion, and it doesn't even work! But military veterans and retirees should be the last group Congress asks for more sacrifice.

If I've heard this much, I can only imagine what Republicans have been getting in their voicemails and inboxes. On The Hugh Hewitt Show yesterday, Paul Ryan was handed the hideous job of defending the cuts against a host who found them morally outrageous.

"Had Mitt and I won that election, this would not be required," said Ryan. "This would not be necessary."

Hewitt wouldn't have it. "This will destroy retention," he said. "It will destroy morale, and it is deeply unfair to the American military which has sacrificed more than anyone else."

Mitt had a somewhat reasonable approach to immigration.

Mitt was lying his butt off. Mitt was lying about everything. He is a lefty.

I voted for Mitt and Ryan.

Anyone who thinks or dreams that they would not be pulling this left and right with no opposition form either side is stupid.

Ryan is taking money by stealing from vets and their future widows.

He’d have good character if he were in office?

It frightens me to think of what they’d be doing under the name Republican.

Romney doesn’t understand the constitution and has no respect for it.

Ryan is a weasel. A horrible man. His wife is a big liberal feminist.

No one would oppose any of this. Obama is a worse person on a certain scale, but at least we recognize it.

See, I stopped arguing like this in the 2nd grade. Until you show how my non Obama vote got officially counted on Obama’s ballot, you really should stop. Because arguing like a child isn’t very conservative. Republican but not conservative. Maybe thats the Flag in your handle...the GOP banner.

take a civics lesson.

Votes not cast are not counted and the electoral college goes state by state.

“You basically said they shouldn’t even try to pass conservative legislation and shut down the lefty agenda.”

Every single Republican voted against Obamacare. Every single one. So don’t tell me they didn’t try to shut down the lefty agenda. Your nose is growing, Pinoccio.

At this point, the only thing that really matters is not repeating our mistakes. And it amazes me how many people are too damn proud to admit they screwed up. So proud they will do it again to avoid eating crow.

Thankfully many, as you describe with the vets will not be doing it again.

I'm not a huge Mitt defender, my FRiend. He was not my choice in the primary.

That said, I supported and voted for Mitt, as (warts and all) he's better than Mister Obama.

My original point is that "had Mitt and I won" suggests that they were on the same page, and at least as far as illegal aliens, Ryan stands with the Dems.

.

There will be a lot more conservatives not voting this time if the Dem primary voters, the media and the GOPeepeeheads select the (Christie/Jeb) candidate after this, after Romney handed him the victory, after McCain, after 8 years of disappointments from Bush.

There’s only so much people of character can take. Moderation and lukewarmness. Hey, Jesus said He could deal with criminals, that it was the lukewarm that He felt like vomiting out. Rev 3:16

Well, that’s a natural reaction.

I am so cynical of politicians. I believe the stupid party will lose the house, lose seats in the senate, and Hillary will win probably 49 states. I hope I am wrong, but people will always vote for real liberals, over pseudo liberals (RINOs) There is a reason the Pubbies are called the stupid party.

Rove needs to review the Constitution and, btw, in it, the job description of the Pres. It is not about job creation

flaglady47 (#98) -The Dems have the Senate, the Presidential veto, and a Prez who can issue executive orders at whim. The Prez/Dems also have the MSM on their side, and most of the Courts. And you say the GOP could stop them?

I say the GOPe should try to stop them, the GOP should stand up and fight at every opportunity. Fight. every day. Fight. every hour. Even if it means forcing Harry Reid and Obama to shut down the government. Fight. Fight. Fight.

Instead they attack the TEA Party and conservatives.

Now explain to me why we should support a political party that doesn't want to oppose the opposition?

Now tell me why we should support a political party that doesn't stand up for its own platform?

Now tell me why we should support a political party that lets its conservative candidates whither without any support?

Now tell me why I should vote for the Republican Party in 2014 with McConnell at war against the TEA Party and Bonehead apparently wanting amnesty?

Explain this to me. What has the Republican Party done to earn my vote?

RE :”and if we refuse they will accuse of voting for Hillary”

I saw that exchange on that, it was entertaining.

I been accused of things you wouldn't believe here,

It was my fault Obama won because I diss Romney .

But it was ALSO my fault that Obama won because I support Romney.

Pings here are like the prize in the bottom of cracker jacks.

as of today the GOP does not deserve to win the House or Senate

The only one who tried to do anything was Cruz and he was attacked by his own party.
