Obama romanticizes backward countries like the former colonies in Ebola-rich West Africa and views imposing a travel ban on their citizens as adding insult to the grievous injuries that the big, bad United States has inflicted on them...........

.......Obama's stance on Ebola looks even more untethered from reality in light of recent deaths of medical personnel. Trained professionals intimately acquainted with proper medical protocols still manage to get themselves killed when working near Ebola patients. Hazmat gear is not foolproof. Five co-authors of a new Ebola study came down with the disease and perished before it was published.

The group that Ebola exhibitionist Kaci Hickox volunteers for, Doctors Without Borders, has had 24 of its workers infected with Ebola, and 13 have died from it, Charles C. Johnson reports at GotNews.com.

Incidentally, media darling Hickox, a nurse who is publicly whining about the prospect of being quarantined against her will for 21 days after arriving in the U.S. from Africa a few days ago, isn't just a health care worker who treats Ebola patients.

Johnson discovered that Hickox, who has yet to test positive for the virus, is an Obama administration employee, a registered Democrat, and a left-wing activist. She happens to work for the worse than useless Centers for Disease Control (CDC), a federal agency that is strongly resisting travel bans and quarantines...........

I wish we could convince the community-organizer-in-chief that he has it backwards: America is an imperialistic, systemically racist, rotten, unjust country that has victimized other nations merely by being wealthy and powerful, so imposing a travel ban on West Africans to protect them from future grievous injuries that the big, bad United States might inflict on them is the most compassionate, caring, progressive option. I wouldn't bother trying to convince Obola that there is anything good in the America he was raised to despise; that's hopeless. But perhaps we can reduce the damage Obola inflicts through his hatred.

This goes in an odd way. Neither the President or any governor has authority to quarantine anyone. They may invent some bogus executive order deal, but that’s not the method of the past hundred years.

A county health officer (there are 3,144 such individuals) will note a situation, and apply standard state authority onto a form and note a person who they feel needs to be quarantined. The form will be sent to a county judge, who will validate the form, and issue instructions to the county law enforcement to carry out his wishes. The same method works for nutcases and the judge deems some guy to be held for 72 hours while examined by a mental doctor.

Course, our method never involved airports, quickly developing cases where some gal decided to run off to Africa for a month, and then run back and pretend it’s all fine and dandy.

This bulk national quarantine thing....I seriously doubt would ever work or be effective. Can anyone name a single successful gov’t project (other than the military operations which seem to work)?

Stopping flights would work. Some would persist in coming here taking curcuitou routes and changing paperwork It would slow them down forcing them to spend at least some portion of the 21 or 42 days enroute. We don’t have to “keep them out” we only have to increase the amount of time it takes to get here.

There are no flights from affected countries to the U.S. Getting from there to here already requires “circuitous routes.”

Stopping all direct flights, stopping all travelers from the hot zone and above all stopping all 150 visas that we are issuing every day.

Can be done in one day with a visa. Stop that and, as I said, require fake passport/visa, walk across the border, whatever, come here ILLEGALLY and it will take much longer. Leaving the floodgates open on legit Visas is just downright irresponsible. Now even the “experts” (from out of town with a briefcase) say we can expect several cases in each major city over the next two months. For what? What benefit does ANYONE get by the US taking that risk?

Direct flights from the affected region are almost zero. From South Africa, there are a number of flights each week. From the affected zone, you typically fly int Frankfurt, Madrid, Rome, London, Paris or Amsterdam.

I do agree....it wouldn’t take much to say that a guy who lands in Europe....must spend seventy-two hours there before getting on nexta flight. The Europeans wouldn’t like it at all...forcing a guy to get a visa would cost some and involve risk assessment (long before Ebola ever came along). It’d put the fever episode to a test.
