Reports that some charitable hospitals have used aggressive debt collection practices, including allowing debt collectors to pursue collections in emergency rooms, have highlighted the need for clear rules to protect patients,
On the other hand, if you have MediCaid, and you have them pay for your medical services, when you die the State will come after your assets to repay the Medicaid expenditures; or even go after your heirs.
Abuse collection methods???
It never ceases to amaze me how some people think you can make a much-need product and/or service more available by throttling those who make its existence possible.
And of course, in a few years or so, government will be using the shortage THEY caused to justify more government control. It’s a bloody never-ending cycle.
I have always been asked for a valid government issued photo ID when going to an emergency room (and I have been there a lot) and also been asked to give my s/s (Medicare) number at any first time visit to a doctor.
I get that we should give to private charity hospitals but when the government seizes control of them through dictating who they must treat ......
That’s the one thing I agree with. Everyone should get the same price.
I have never been to an emergency room, so I certainly defer to your experience.
But in regards to donating to charities, I won’t let Obama cause me to alter my charitable giving. I can’t stop the gov’t from giving away my tax dollars, but the money that I control, I alone control.
Then that price will be high; just like universities.
