Technically true but misleading statment by WaPo reporter. He doesn’t mention that Senate has to approve by 2/3 vote.

Ping to Today show list.

Why do we need a senate when we have an EMPEROR!

No wonder this dumb ass is on MSNBC. He forgets to mention that to ratify it then 2/3 of the senate has to agree.

Technically, the Constitution says something on the order of “....the President has the power to make...., with 2/3 of the advise and consent (required)....”

This ‘ratification’ business is superfluous add-on diversion.

Just what is “Ishaan Tharoor?” Sounds like something you might get off of a toilet seat. Really, where are the normal “American” reporters? Seems like most of the networks hire some camel humper or elephant rider to be their on screen “reporters.” Ain’t that diversity great!

Ishaan Tharoor? As Bob Grant used to say: “Where are you from pal?”

President can sign a treaty, but it does not take effect until ratified by the Senate.

Article II Section 2. "He shall have power, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, to make treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur."

To make a treaty does not equate to "ratification." Ratification means "acceptance or confirmation of an agreement or act" and is what the senate does when it votes for the treaty by a two thirds majority. The idiot WaPo kid is wrong.

Others here seem to take the dictionary definition of “ratify” and try to apply that to the written words of the constitution that do no comport. Words mean things. Even the SC with the power to interpret (as they often wrongly do) does not have the power to literally rewrite it. That power is left alone to the states in due process.
