Gov. Brian Sandoval announced Tuesday he will not run for Harry Reids U.S. Senate seat.
Sandoval made known his intentions to remain as governor, at least for now, following the conclusion of the 2015 legislative session on June 1...
I have said many times that it is an honor and a privilege to serve as Nevadas chief executive and that I love my job. My heart is in my responsibilities as governor and continuing to build the New Nevada. My undivided attention must be devoted to being the best governor, husband and father I can be.
For these reasons, I will not seek the United States Senate seat that will be available in 2016, Sandoval said.
National Republican officials and U.S. Sen. Dean Heller had called on Sandoval to seek the seat being vacated by Reid. Reid is backing former Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto as the Democratic nominee for the seat...
With Reids surprise announcement in March not to seek another term, the open seat has drawn a lot of attention from Democrats and Republicans. Rep. Dina Titus, D-Nev., recently announced she would not run for the seat but instead seek re-election. Rep. Joe Heck, R-Nev., is considering a bid for the seat.

Just don’t look to Sharron Angle again.
The insiders already have their picks (for both parties) lined up to run for the senate job. I think Sandavol is pretty sure he’ll be picked up for a cabinet position. I also think he’s in the top ten for VP for any of the guys running for President.
Sandoval won’t be picked as VP—he’s “pro-choice” on abortion.
If Sandoval wants to be in office past 2018, then he blew it by not running for the Senate.
While I agree she shouldn’t run, she actually was fine as a candidate. She beat a good field of primary candidates and took it to Reid in the debate. Unfortunately, it’s hard to beat a sitting Senate leader. Small mistakes get magnified, and now Angle is somehow the posterchild of the GOP elite about how bad the tea party is. No one was beating Reid. He had the mob in his pocket and unlimited funds.
agreed. This is what I think happened with Romney and Bush. A deal of some form was struck regarding “turns”.
Maybe he wants to go back to the bench ?
I just thought of something:
If Ginsberg passes away before King Tut bambaboy is out of office, he puts dingy hairy in her place....
or....
if ‘the old hag’ loses, she gets Ginsberg seat....
Good we don’t need another back stabbing RINO in the senate.
Paging Wayne Newton.. White GoP Courtesy phone.
Not the way he’s playing 3rd base.
What a deal!!
I bet he dines at Dirty Dick’s for free.
I would definitely take a 75 year old liberal over a much younger liberal to replace Ginsburg if she dies when Obama is still in office. If Hillary loses it would be November and all the senate would have to do is stall long enough for the Republican winner to take office in a couple of months.

Okay, maybe we can get a conservative.
It can't be understated how horrendous a candidate she was, a gaffe machine. That's WHY she lost a race that was all but won (due to Reid's lack of popularity). You are QUITE wrong, either of the other 2 candidates would have dispensed with Reid.
She showed what she was when lost a House primary in 2006 and demanded a REVOTE. People were warned not to nominate her, warned by people who actually know half a GD thing about how to win elections, but they didn't listen, she crowned herself Queen of Tea and fools bowed down before her and followed her down the road to defeat (and it wasn't even that close, after we'd led by double digits) and as a consequence the country was gifted 6 more years of the *uckhead gangster Harry Reid. And in the years since there's been far too much apologetics on her behalf. BS excuses like "oh NO ONE could have won".
Horrible candidates (from ANY and ALL wings of the party including "tea party" and "self-proclaimed tea party") need to be thrown into the garbage where they belong.tea party
1932: Dem Frederick Van Nuys beat GOP Majority Leader James Eli Watson (IN)
1950: GOPer Everett Dirksen beat Dem Majority Leader Scott W. Lucas (IL)
1952: GOPer Barry Goldwater beat Dem Majority Leader Ernest McFarland (AZ)
2004: GOPer John Thune beat Dem Minority Leader Tom Daschle (SD)
Hard, but not impossible. Reid is enormously unpopular in NV and is quite defeatable. However, he knew that Angle was a horrible candidate and he wanted no one else to be his opponent but her, and he got it. Virtually any other GOP candidate running would've won and he knew it. He didn't have to cheat in the general. If he did, he could've carried his son, Rory, running for Governor against Sandoval, to victory. He could cook a few votes (like he did in 1998 against John Ensign) in Clark County, but not by the tens of thousands.
Smart move. He could continue on as the boss in NV, or he could be one of a hundred strutting and squawking peacocks in Washington.
A no brainer.

Not great but better then a 40 year old liberal like the Castro brothers which also would be a possibility. Somebody 74 and 67 is much better.
