BRUSSELS - NATO is flatly dismissing a claim by Russia that its actions and expansion constitute a menace for Russia's security.

Alliance spokesperson Oana Lungescu said Tuesday that NATO is still studying Russia's new security doctrine, approved last week.

"That said," Lungescu added, "we categorically reject totally unfounded claims that NATO and its policies constitute a security threat" for Moscow.

Personally, I think NATO outlived its charter by a decade or two. I think it wants to exist BECAUSE it exists, and all those leaders and functionaries need a job.

The West promised Russia after the end of the Cold War to dissolve the logic of hostile blocs. That was forgotten when Russia was weak and NATO instead of winding up its affairs, rushed instead to expand up to Russia’s borders.

I doubt the US would tolerate Canada and Mexico belonging to a foreign military bloc. But it expects Russia to acquiesce in Ukraine joining a hostile military alliance.

Dream on. Encirclement has its own logic and a country faced with it is going to take steps against it. Europe is not being threatened by Russian military invasion today. Its being threatened by an Islamic demographic and cultural takeover.

Which NATO, with all its military superiority can’t prevent. The West won the Cold War without firing a shot and millions of people are free today because it stood for freedom and justice.

But if the West expects Russia to accept a subordinate role and forego its national interests along with revival of its legitimate Great Power aspirations, it isn’t going to happen. Enlarging NATO won’t change those facts of life for most Russians.

Ironic that the shiny new NATO headquarters is situated in Brussels, a city at the epicenter of the Muslim invasion.

You have a very valid point of view.

It’s an organization with lots of power. Something on the order of the UN that got off to a good start, great intentions, and wondered off the path.

Both have outlived their usefulness and are more dangerous than beneficial.

Considering the muzzie invasion of Europe, I’d say the same applies to the European Union.

Considering the leftist Uniparty takeover in DC, we are not far behind.

Things are so ripe for WWIII.

US Embassy NATO is not the only Western country with a diplomatic missions to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.

The real problem is that Europe was never serious about defending itself because the cost of socialism was too high to maintain or justify a military. That required a strong US presence to unite under our military protection a coalition that was closer to the Socialist's Bloc under the Soviet Union. To believe that the US could just disengage its military from NATO is unreasonable because none of Europe's military is an organization without the USAF or US Army.

NATO only cared about that which secured it more support and funding. It whored itself out to Obama so he could “lead from behind” when they helped install the Muslim Brotherhood in Libya.

NATO is the banger oligarch’s leg breakers. Their portfolio is to suppress any government not yet in debt to the World Bank or the IMF, particularly nations who have joined together in the BRICS international development bank. Disband NATO Now!
