Anybody remember the “Special Forces Underground” and the “Resister”?
You must be a little younger than me. Mine were just the reverse order.I still have most of those old mags up in my attic.
One of the funniest stories I remember from the “I was there” column involved some Navy divers assigned to shoot film underwater of a nuclear sub as it passed by them.
The description of their naivety as they get ready, and how they wanted a really good shot, then the abject terror of being next to a giant speeding sub a few feet away. Of wishing they could scream in the regulator....
It was a laugh out loud. And great weapons tests. There was an awful lot of underlying fun and humor in it.
and then roiling in the violent wake... and written just the way you’d tell the story in a bar.
So it is going to be an on line magazine ? Makes sense .
“Anybody remember the Special Forces Underground and the Resister?”
Yes.
OK this is maybe the place for this question.
Who was the toughest?
When I was a kid we often argued over whether Tarzan could whip Bomba or if Roy Rogers Could beat Gene Autry.
In combat arms there are two men who really stand out. Between Fairbairne and Skorzeny, who would win with no weapons? Who would win with bayonets? Who would win with rifles?
I know we are no longer little kids but maybe we can have some fun like we did back then.
I intend it as a serious question.
Nope. Heard all about them but never went.
Thanks for the memories!
I found at least one issue digitized, the last one.

A great magazine!
But I haven’t seen it in years. Read it regularly during the Carter years.
The Resister.
Grey copy.
.
All the services have their harassment packages.
All of them have their “elite”,...you know,...
the 6’2” guy who sneaks in, remains stealthy for 3 weeks, remains still with bugs and mud all over him, blends into the environment, doesn’t eat or sleep, then simply grabs the guy and snaps his neck, direct action, returns home, never gets a DD214 and continues on with life, being in the right place, at the right time, to do the right thing, and never gets acknowledgment or even approbation.
That’s life. ...and for some death.
The best simply remain in faith in Christ in all things.
He knows who they are.
That, comic books and gas station playboys were staples of my youth.
Never bought a SoF but always spent time with one whenever I was in a magazine store when I was a kid.
Vividly recall seeing split skulls in an article about being a merc in Zimbabwe.
Funny movie.
Agreed.
A Salute to the Soldier of Fortune!! Been reading it since it first was published. I got most of them. Good Bye!
