Rank and File Republicans Tell Party Elites: We’re Sticking With Donald Trump
New York Times ^ | MARCH 4, 2016

Posted on 03/05/2016 7:41:31 AM PST by VitacoreVision

From Michigan to Louisiana to California on Friday, rank-and-file Republicans expressed mystification, dismissal and contempt regarding the instructions that their party's most high-profile leaders were urgently handing down to them: Reject and defeat Donald J. Trump.

Their angry reactions, in the 24 hours since Mitt Romney and John McCain urged millions of voters to cooperate in a grand strategy to undermine Mr. Trump's candidacy, have captured the seemingly inexorable force of a movement that still puzzles the Republican elite and now threatens to unravel the party they hold dear.

In interviews, even lifelong Republicans who cast a ballot for Mr. Romney four years ago rebelled against his message and plan. "I personally am disgusted by it -- I think it's disgraceful," said Lola Butler, 71, a retiree from Mandeville, La., who voted for Mr. Romney in 2012. "You're telling me who to vote for and who not to vote for? Please."

"There's nothing short of Trump shooting my daughter in the street and my grandchildren -- there is nothing and nobody that's going to dissuade me from voting for Trump," Ms. Butler said.

Well, at least the major media is finally admitting there is a republican elite who runs the party.

Oh, that’s right. The executive branch can’t pass laws. I’ve heard that one candidate wants to loosen the laws for lawsuits. You would think he enjoys and loves suing people. But he doesn’t have the power to loosen any law but he can disregard the constitution.

It’s CONGRESS that has been voted in and does not pass laws. Congress could have passed a law protecting the pre-born decades ago. So is the only thing to do is elect ANOTHER president who doesn’t follow the constitution?

Doesn’t matter anyway since the constitution was written for a moral people. However, laws do have a purpose. A nation’s laws reflect its culture.

So. Lots of people want a wall built and illegal immigrants kicked out and kept out. Did you know that invasion is a Biblical consequence for nationally legal child sacrifice?

We already do know how anyone else running will do what they’ve always did and we’ll keep getting what we’ve always got.
Trump has already proven that he gets things DONE which is s what those others haven’t been doing.

If you want to have abortion stopped you need a constitutional amendment.

Electing a President who is against abortion is meaningless since he can't do anything about it.

No, congress can pass a law making abortion illegal.

They can pass all the laws they want, they will just have them knocked down by the SC.

That is one of the funniest things I have ever read here on FR. As they say, there is an element of truth in good humor.

That is not going to happen. Trump does not have the money to go third party. He was completely exposed Thursday night as a know nothing. Anytime he was asked a question of substance, he reverted to his great company, how he is doing in the polls, it was a truly embarrassing performance.

Cruz won two caucuses today and Trump won La and Ky caucus, but they were not blow outs. Trump will no longer have easy wins. He will need to spend money on ads and organize, things he has refused to do.

I noticed where he said he wants Rubio to drop out. He shouldn't. The fewer the candidates, the closer the races will be.

Funny, that’s exactly my problem with Cruz. First, his base of true conservatives is too narrow to win in November. Second, as President, his strict adherence to the constitution will earn him the eternal admiration of his core constituency, but it won’t make him an effective agent for change. Articulating conservative principles does not translate into forcing change, because the progressive left does not listen to reason.

Real change is going to require a type of street fighting Republicans are not used to, and do not find attractive. Trump fights, and he doesn’t care what the broomstick up the arse republican hoity toity types think of him. That’s why I think he might as President actually “throw the rascals out”.
