Are we be better off with the thousands of factories shut down and millions of jobs lost?
Ted Cruz was on with Jeff Kuhner re: free trade ^

Are we be better off today with the thousands of U.S. factories that have shut down and millions of American jobs lost and the trillions in accumulated debt that we've run up in the last couple decades of free trade?

And, of course, this is due to many factors including such things as:

Big government

Regulations

High taxes

Unions driving up costs

Cheap labor overseas

Fewer regulations overseas

Lower taxes overseas

Trade deficits

etc.,

And doubly exasperated by poor trade deals?

Or is this all a myth?

Are we better off with cheaper foreign (cheap) goods, fewer U.S. factories, fewer U.S. jobs, higher unemployment and welfare, higher taxes and higher national debt?

Will this spiral out of control until we lose our country?

Is ushering in free trade before (or without) reducing our own costs the equivalent of national suicide?

As you know the official unemployment rate is low, and there are real shortages in the labor force.

I don't believe that for one second. We have the equivalent of the population of Germany not working.

Yup. Apparently Trump understands if first hand. Where do our esteemed senators outsource their products to?

I don’t know. Was just listening to a babbling brook gushing about some “free trade” utopia.

You keep saying that but it is a stupid and dumb argument. Automating a factory in the USA is good. Shipping the factory to China then automating it is a catastrophe for the USA for many reasons. You are mixing apples and oranges.

Most of the robots and welders in our new high tech companies are made in Japan and China...The large machinery comes from Germany or other European countries as well as Japan...They've got us comin' and goin'...

I said this in another article earlier, but if Trump doesn’t get the nomination I’ll write him in.

Let the MSM try to explain why Trump got so many write-in votes. If he doesn’t get it, this country is done. Hell it may already be too late, but at least I and others can make a statement.

Trump 2016.

We as a nation need to realize that the myriad, feel-good government bureaucracies (EPA, OSHA, EEOC, etc) are a major cause of the jobs losses.

If we got rid of all of those programs corporate America would go it a panic as all of the excuses for off shoring would be gone! Horrors! and the naked greed driving this whole anti American escapade revealed for the traitorous scam that it really is.

Please name one area in our country that has a shortage of talent. You need only pick one.

Yes, I think it will spiral out of control, and I think we are in a bubble right now which hasn’t popped due only to uncertainty in the rest of the world.

I think we can still save ourselves from this vicious cycle.

Why we need an import tariff to protect American jobs. I would start a 5% the first year and then raise it 5% for the next 4 years.

This country definitely took a turn for the worse once it became more lucrative for a young American to work in a government agency regulating factories than to actually run a factory himself.

You make a lot of good points, but I would suggest dropping the whole “foreign countries manipulating their currencies” line in these discussions. Over the last 15 years the U.S. has been one of the worst offenders in this regard.

But it's like Trump says, 'they need us a lot more than we need them'...After all, we ARE the U.S. of A...

I am going to ask the moderator to delete my Post #62, and you're going to do the same with your Post #54.

I won't be having any further conversations with you until this happens.

A major Japanese car maker has opened a huge plant. I know someone in the deal. It employs 2 people.
