But he isn’t smarter, in fact he is quite ignorant when it comes to free markets...and if he was truly smart he would not have to lie so much...and he would be winning or at least running close which he isn’t. Trump has completely dominated the primaries...but, don’t let reality get in the way of a comfortable delusion...

Arrogance and intelligence or education are different aspects of one’s character.
Some well educated people as well as some not so smart people are arrogant to the point of being unbearable.
And the opposite holds true.
Cruz could be smart without being arrogant.
Or he could be smart and humble or modest.
But he does seem to be getting more and more snarky and less and less likeable and persuasive because of it.
And "smarter" got him...what, exactly? Debating champion at Princeton. A 2-9 record before the (conservative) Supreme Court, a career as a Bush bureaucrat, and a Senate term with zero achievements (except support for Obama on TPA).

I’d love to see IQ tests for Ted and Donald. Cruz has commands of facts that are pertinent to his job, his career. Trump has been this field for 8 months. If that little oops moment is Cruz’s big catch, he’s in trouble.
Meanwhile Trump not only knows the business/developer side inside out, the banking, the budgets, the regulation, whole bit and has come up to speed with professional politicians.
Wonder how Cruz would do learning Trump’s business in 8 months.

You resent his success in the real world where you're held accountable, you're more comfortable diddling in your head with facts and thoughts and philosophies and can easily make fun of others for not collecting as many. You have to understand more than the past to lead a country, you have to understand the present. The present does not occur in your mind and Cruz can't study it.

Arrogance is arrogance no matter the reason. It’s pathetically hollow when displayed in an incompetent person, and it’s repulsive when displayed by a capable person. In both cases, arrogance is a symptom of insecurity and a poor sense of self-worth.

So you see, arrogance is an ugly quality in a putative human being, regardless of the reason or cause, and those who display it are shunned and disliked, as they well should be.
