Donald J. Trump said Thursday that transgender people should be allowed to use whatever bathroom they feel most comfortable with — including at Trump Tower in New York.
Dipping into a contentious issue by taking a stand many Republicans oppose, Mr. Trump told a town-hall-style event, hosted by NBC’s “Today” show at Rockefeller Center in Manhattan, that when people go to the restroom, they should “use the bathroom they feel is appropriate.”
Mr. Trump, the Republican presidential front-runner, was responding to a question about a bill that North Carolina’s governor signed into law last month that bars individuals in the state from using public bathrooms that don’t correspond to their biological sex — the one listed on their birth certificate. Since then, there has been a backlash from businesses and celebrities opposed to the state’s action. And transgender issues have pitted social conservatives against business interests that traditionally have been part of the Republican coalition in the South and elsewhere.
“North Carolina did something — it was very strong — and they’re paying a big price,” Mr. Trump said. “And there’s a lot of problems. And I heard — one of the best answers I heard was from a commentator yesterday saying, leave it the way it is, right now.”
He added that before the law passed, there had been “very few problems” but now North Carolina is experiencing an exodus of businesses and “strife” from people on both sides of the issue.
“You leave it the way it is,” he said. “There have been very few complaints the way it is.”
North Carolina’s law, which also removed anti-discrimination protections for L.G.B.T. people, and the backlash to it, is now at the heart of the state’s hotly contested governor’s race.

New York values no doubt.
Cruzers will melt down over a non-issue, but it’s a state’s issue at most which would only be a distraction in the general. There is more to fear anyway from little boys being alone with men in the men’s restroom than the menace of drugged up trannies, who are probably 0.1 percent of the population. (Though they are overrepresented on University campuses, particularly in the social justice departments.)
You may not think that’s so swell when a guy follows your 10-year old daughter into the bathroom....

Why is this a non-issue?
It’s a completely absurd picture. That man would be arrested for indecent exposure and probably a dozen other laws if he was snapping pictures.
These are the kinds of issue the left uses as a distraction to keep the right from coalescing around the existential battle of our time, which is our immigration system and our economic survival.
It’s no mistake Lauer brought this up now.

I’m liking Trump less and less the more he opens his mouth. I think this statement is an inane attempt to pander. You see how he’s all over the board? One minute he acts conservative and the next he says a horrible thing like “I don’t mind transgender people using the same bathroom as women.” You want your wife or daughter in the same bathroom as an el wacko man claiming to be transgender?
Consider the source, which tells me that he never said it, or if he did, he never meant it, or if he did, it’s just a clever ruse.

The forcing of gay and transgender rights on people who do not want to conform to such a life style is not an existential issue?
The stepping on the rights of Christian business folks, forcing them to celebrate such lifestyle under the threat of business closure and fines is not an existential issue?

Yep, Trump is like Pope Francis... when he says something conservatives don’t like, he must have been misinterpreted.
For how many decades has it been perfectly legal for a "transgender" creep to use a women's restroom? These people are barely a fraction of the population, but we're supposed to believe it's this major issue that's just flaring up. We've had perverts and we will always have perverts willing to break the law. Having the state police bathrooms won't solve anything if you're talking about people willing to dress up as women to rape girls in restrooms.
Anyway, you would think the trannies would want to molest little boys in the men's restroom.
