Trump & Trash Talking
Free Republic ^ | 6/20/2016 | Loud Mime

Note: My usual web host didn't like this article because it would hurt the feelings of many of their friends. Sorry; no I'm not.

We now know that some conservatives can be as disgusting, hateful, and illogical as the old Bush-Deranged liberals. Here I now speak of the Never-Trumpers, the loudmouths that have engaged in a full court press with their rhetoric, claiming not only that voting for Trump is the act of a stupid person, but that God will judge against you if you vote for the tycoon. Yes, I’ve read screeds directed at Christians that the Almighty will not spare you from harsh judgement if you vote for Trump. Their Inquisition may not be far away.

Why are conservatives, of all people, talking like this?

Ever since that hate-filled invidiot James Carville hit the scene, trash talking in politics has ascended to a horrible level. Carville’s job was to use as much screen time as possible to insult the conservatives’ intelligence, values, prudence and the Constitution itself. Outright lies did not matter to him. But take note: he wasn’t running for office. He was the brown-shirt defending a horrible administration by falsely taking others down to his level. And, foolishly, they accepted it, arguing it back.

Now we are seeing all the candidates trash-talking, partly because they dare not discuss the proper role of the president—especially the Democrats. They have to trash talk, because if they mentioned the proper constitutional duty of the president, their entire voter base would act like the crowd responding to Inspector Kemp in “Young Frankenstein” — Whaaat?

Let’s have some clarity. I am like that hopeful kid that pulls the petals off a daisy; but instead of saying “she loves me, she loves me not,” I’m thinking “Donald gets my vote, Donald does not.” Last month I wrote an article about the Trump phenomena, advising that “if we keep doing what we’ve been doing, we’re going to keep getting what we’ve been getting.” That’s one big reason why Trump has been such a force in this election cycle. Another is that he’s energetic; he keeps doing things that have people taking about him. That is important in politics.

Yet, it is my solemn wish that the candidates would explain how they would obey their oath of office instead of misdirecting the public eye elsewhere. Mr. Trump is among them, doing some things I abhor. So, I will address him directly:

Dear Mr. Trump:

You are now engaged in a job interview for our nation’s presidency. Now, tell me, have you ever given a person a job because he trash-talked his contenders into submission? I don’t think so. This is why I beg you to change the focus from the media’s storm of gossip, assumptions and name-calling to a dialogue that focuses on the business at hand.

In other words, change the foundation to “nothing personal – only business.”

So, Mr. Trump, let’s start anew; we start this job interview by focusing on the job itself, not the personal politics and ad-hominem attacks. Here are 3 questions (I have a lot more) that I wish to pose to you in this interview:

1. One of the job requirements is found in the Constitution (in Section 2) which reads that the President “…shall take care that the laws be faithfully executed.” Mr. Trump, will you take this order seriously? Or, will you subject the enforcement of law according to political or ideological favors?
2. Do you believe that the federal government should keep going into debt? If not, what will you do about it?
3. Please tell me what the Tenth Amendment would mean to you, as president.

Thank You
Constitution Steve (It’s what some of my friends call me)

The Never-Trumpers, despite their “being” intellectually and spiritually superior to every one else, are ignorant of the dynamic forces they face. Our nation is over $20 trillion in debt because the Democrats pushed for it and the Republicans didn’t stop them—despite our having voted them into power to do exactly that. Trump represents a non-party alternative to our traditional party politics that has enabled this debt. Replacing Trump with anyone, be it a current senator or some handsome heart-throb, does not automatically swing Trump’s voters to Cruz or any other NT “solution.” Worse yet, it will lose the Trump momentum, that energy which defeated the party line politicians, and may not bring the votes necessary to win an election against ANY Democrat.

We must face the fact that the politicians have put us under such heavy debt and weakened our military to such a point that it will take years to rebuild and generations to repay. Trusting the same core of politicians who got us into this mess to get us out, does not seem wise.

It may be sufficient help that a candidate is useful, even if far far far from perfect.

We’re choosing a secular steward, not a godfather, for crying out loud.

And now how about listing Hillary’s, and a bunch more provisions of the Constitution.

Every one of the other GOP contenders were not my “ideal.” Actually, I would be my ideal, and there are a handful of others who I would give the nod to, but they didn’t run.

EVERY GOP CANDIDATE WAS/IS A COMPROMISE! As that was undoubtedly true, I SHOULD VOTE FOR “NONE OF THE ABOVE.

I gave to Cruz, but I voted for and support Trump. EVERY OTHER CONSERVATIVE SHOULD REALIZE THE COMPROMISE STILL MOVES THE COUNTRY FORWARD.

You “NeverTrumpers” have got to get a freaking clue. Cruz was as bad as Trump, and I was willing to vote Cruz.

Back in the last election we had the Never-Romney faction bring us four more years of Obama. It’s a standard case of the ego defying all logic and knowledge. Now we have a NT faction.

It’s not helping our nation at all, regardless of their fantasies.

Some folks think that an official ought to be a “set and forget” affair. They’re going to find that nothing will help, if they do.

Even Obama sometimes budges if hounded enough. The one that is easiest to deal with is probably the right one. Trump has made false starts before, then corrected.

This is the usual argument one hears: “... blah blah ... yes I am a conservative, sure I work for DNN and go to Washington dinner parties where everyone else present is a liberal, but anyway, I will now condescend to tell actual conservatives what to think and it’s ... blah blah ...”

Tune it out. Let me absorb it all in my enormous clown head where I laugh and laugh and laugh.

The #neverTrumpers reminds me of the Emo Philips bit about religion:

Emo Philips bit on religious tolerance and diversity

It's 100% or nothing. There is nothing in between. And the reality is that NO candidate, now or in the past, would actually pass what they demand for ideological purity. It's just sour grapes over their first chosen candidate losing - and rather than continuing to play they will take their ball and go home.

EMO: I prayed for a bicycle, but none appeared. I asked a priest why. He told me that God works in mysterious ways. So, I thought about that. Then I went out, stole a bike and then prayed for forgiveness.

I don’t understand it. Trump, nor anyone, is perfect. Cruz had a huge likeability handicap and was smart enough and honorable enough to bow out when he could see the road ahead was closed.

I have a friend who was all in for Cruz and now that Cruz bowed out; he washed his hands of this whole election like it was Cruz or nothing.

Well nothing could be more untrue. Broomhilda still needs to be beat like a rented mule and Trump is the person we have now to do that.

Yeah; I don’t get fair weather conservatives at all.

There’s this one woman in our political circle that everybody looks up to; but I’ve found her being dishonest in her political writings and have called her out on it. Nothing. They keep thinking she’s great - - and she’s totally anti-Trump, even lying about him.

If a person cares about this nation they won’t put so much ego into their activism. That’s what a liberal does; look where its gotten us.

Emo and Steven Wright are my favorite comedians. Brilliant guys, especially in how they deliver the lines...

Folks, quit wasting time on Cruz Crybabies. You're using up your precious energy. Use it to convince an open-minded independent or even an open-minded democrat (they are out there). Meanwhile, all the Cuzers-Only can stay home sucking their pacifiers.
