After a dinner meeting with Donald Trump at Jean-Georges restaurant in New York, Mitt Romney delivered a glowing review of the president-elect’s leadership during the transition.

Mr. Romney, who was invited to the dinner purportedly for a follow-up interview for the job of secretary of state, described it as a “wonderful evening” and said that he was “impressed” with Mr. Trump’s handling of his upset victory in the election.

“We had another discussion about affairs throughout the world and these discussions I’ve had with him have been enlightening, and interesting, and engaging,” Mr. Romney, the 2012 Republican presidential nominee, told reporters outside the restaurant.

Mr. Romney said that from what he’s seen of Mr. Trump’s leadership during the transition, he was optimistic that “America’s best days are ahead of us.

Nope...not to England; the Court of Saint James is THE "plum" Ambassadorship.

He should be sent to Venezuela, North Korea ( LOL...yes, I know we don't have any dealing with that nation ), or Zimbabwe.

Looking at Romney's body language and comments to the press following his meeting with Trump, I'd say he had bugs for dessert.

Mittens no longer thinks Trump is a phony and fraud, a bully and mysogynist?
Who’s the phony now, Willard? Trump won despite you and your nevertrumper friends.

How about the ambassador to South Waziristan - a wonderful part of the world known as “Hell’s Door Knocker”?

Mitt should have been waiting the table, not sitting with Trump.

Not a Romney fan.

He’s devoutly religious. So is Paul Ryan.

One would hope for loyalty from those awarded prominence. Paul Ryan would not be Speaker today if Romney hadn’t selected him to run with him as VP.

Nothing will move in the House without Ryan. Ryan, loyal, may have asked for a prominent role for Romney.

Romney has a JD and MBA from Harvard. He has fundraising skills and certainly organizational skills. It’s not like a place can’t be found for him — if he’s willing at age 69 to disrupt a comfortable retirement to serve in his country’s govt.

If Trump taps Romney for SOS I’m good with it. It’s T’s instinct that has won him the presidency. I trust that instinct. He is the only man who could beat the Clinton machine. I’m going to cut him some slack.

Go Donald. keep winning !

Much what I was thinking.

If Romney gets the job, I won’t be HAPPY, but I’m pretty sure that Trump will have wrested a good deal out of the RINOs in exchange.

Unfortunately we only have a conservative plurality at best, and if the RINOs aren’t on board, even reluctantly, Trump isn’t going to get a whole lot done. That requires compromise, even the distasteful kind of compromise.

If it means stomaching Romney until he does something stupid or selfish enough to get fired in exchange for getting Sessions confirmed as AG, so be it.

I’m afraid that if Mr. T picks Romney for SoS that will show he doesn’t have good instincts.

I will absolutely not trust Romney as SoS.

No matter what.

The press pool had better lay off the late night partying if they're going to survive covering this administration. The Obama lazy days are over.

People say all kinds of nasty things in campaigns ,... including Trump ... and then once the campaign is over it is like those words never happened. Strange to me but thats how it works. I sense with Trump it is not personal .. it is just business.

I do NOT think Trump is wasting time playing little games with Romney. That’s a game for petty little boys. Trump is the President-elect. Romney is being considered for the SoS job and Trump is checking out his skill sets. I would be surprised if he picked him but I don’t know the key skill sets Trump is looking for. Romney is smart, smooth and diplomatic and knows how to shake up companies so I am not surprised he is being considered. We will see soon enough.

....and picking Bush as his VP was the single biggest mistake of Reagan’s career. It brought us Bush, Clinton, Bush, Obama. Nothing short of a disaster.

Got to admire the tenacity of a man like Romney, who can get humiliated publicly and repeatedly and still keep coming back for more, like a dog who doesn’t flee his master even after an 8-hour ride on top of the station wagon.

It’s all about results. I don’t care if Trump hires Ben Rhodes and puts Pocahontas in his cabinet as long as he advances our agenda. Trump must deliver on trade/jobs, immigration and SCOTUS to get reelected. He knows that.

All I can say is that I wish Romney had kept his mouth shut “earlier this year.”

Hitler feels the same way.
