I have been to several. They were OK. But they did not compare to civilian hospitals. Kinda like a budget hotel compared to a 4 star hotel. The budget hotel will do, but it ain’t the same.

Even more amazing: there are Republicans lining up with Democrats to keep this clown on the job in a Trump Administration.

This guy doesn’t have a clue; he’s accomplished virtually nothing in the way of reform since taking the VA post. He’s made little effort to push for the executive reforms necessary to get rid of incompetent and criminal employees. And, some of the problems that caused the firing of his predecessor are continuing under his watch. Last person Trump should think about retaining.

Yeah, I thought he was touted as someone who could really turn things around, with his executive experience.
I haven’t heard one good thing since.
He needs to go.

The guy is an out and out liar! I nearly died at the VA Hospital in Oklahoma City as a direct result of the out and out incompetence, ineptitude and deplorable quality of "care" I received there.

I had to undergo emergency surgery while visiting our son. After surgery I was moved into a room with a very sick patient that was highly contagious.

After pleading with the staff and providing definitive proof that I had contracted a serious lung infection during the period I was in the VA hospital because after surgery the staff had placed me in the same room for three days with a highly contagious patient who was dying and hacking his lungs out day and night (There was a sign on the OUTSIDE of the room requiring "All staff entering this room MUST WEAR A FACE MASK." [emphasis mine]). I was given no protection and the staff refused to move me to another room in spite of repeated requests. As a result, I became deathly ill.

In spite of providing definitive proof that I had contracted a serious infection and pleading not not be released but moved to another room, the so-called "doctor" determined I was "fine and fit for release". So they discharged me.

I was so ill I had to return to the VA in OKC the first thing the next day for two days in a row! I then had to wait sitting on a chair hacking my lungs out in the hallway of the "Urgent Care" facility

FOR OVER E I G H T H O U R S e a c h d a y before a "doctor" from some third world country finally saw me.

They misdiagnosed my problem TWICE and sent me home with the wrong medicine. After this I was so I'll it took me THIRTY DAYS TO RECOVER once they finally diagnosed and properly treated me.

The Chief of Veterans Affairs is a liar; the VA Hospital in Oklahoma City is a disgrace and I am willing to say this to his face.

About to have my fourth surgery at Jerry L. Pettis Loma Linda VA facility on the 15th of this month. Very pleased with the service there.

I’ve read about other facilities such as the one in Phoenix having severe problems that seem to me to be individual management associated problems, otherwise I can’t understand why some facilities are great, and others so neglectful of their mission.

Seems to me the problem is the necessity of uniformity in mission statement, and enforcement of that mission statement.

That is awful! You should not have had to go through that horror.

I so hoping the new administration will shape up that mess.

McDonald is a West Point grad who, as VA Secretary, lied about his experience. In a conversation with a homeless vet (who claimed to be ex-special forces), McDonald said he was SF as well. In reality, McDonald graduated from Ranger school (as do many Army officers and NCOs) but he was never assigned to a Ranger regiment. So, he had the tab, but McDonald is not considered a former special forces soldier.

As a business exec, he rose to the CEO post at Proctor & Gamble. That company dominates many of the product segments where it competes, so the real key to P&G’s continued success is dominant marketing.

And that explains why Obama chose him. Zero was looking for someone who could sell the “illusion” of VA reform so he wouldn’t have to make any effort at fixing the problem. In that respect, McDonald has been the perfect soldier, following Obama’s orders to a T.

McDonald can’t leave the VA soon enough.

My personal opinion is that as long as VA Medical facilities are used as training facilities for local schools, misdiagnosis, ill treatment and the like will forever continue to plague the VA. Having been in the VA system since 1988 and been to several different VA medical centers around the country, I can attest that no VA medical center that I have been to merits a ranking above 2 stars. Also the reduction in beds that have been declining since the early 1970’s is a contributing factor to this as is the blatant unionizing of the staff and nepotism that occurs in these facilities. I have seen a doctor who has made false claims about my health from the time I was in high school, to being in actual shouting matches with doctors who weighed more than I did lecturing me on my weight due to side effects of medications, and the continual policy of the VA that a “pill” does not cause diabetes. I have seen an individual sit in a common room with pneumonia all week long, finally get a bed late in the day on a Friday and be in the morgue by Monday. VA facilities that I have been to are run by incompetent individuals who place themselves above the veteran they are supposedly helping. They have chips on their shoulders and heads larger than their egos. I hate the VA with a passion. They have not only destroyed my life but my career as well. I could go on about the Hire the Vet efforts going on sponsored by the VA but I think I will stop here. Vets are poorly treated and given crappiest jobs. I say the D-word and I am hung up on or never called back.

I wasn't alone, the "Urgent Care" facility was packedoing with Vets who were waiting as long as I was and the OKC VA Hospital was full of third world "doctors" and "nurses aids". Theread was one Muslim who I personally observed expressing open disdain for the patients he was dealing with and went out of his way to do as little as possible to help them.

The whole situation was a nightmare. Lord willing PEOTUS Trump will appoint someone that is a no nonsense, take no prisoners, hard nosed, SOB to the VA position because that is what it's going to take to clean this mess up. He also needs to be able to FIRE all of the dead wood and incompetent staff from managers, doctors, nurses all the way down to the janitors = Every VA hospital I have gone to, even the decent ones in New Hampshire and Boston are filthy. The floors and surfaces are caked with dirt and grime (covered over with wax) Don't even ask me about the bathrooms and showers... indescribably filthy.

This has been described to me as an efficient mechanism of performing business in the federal VA hospitals. If it could only be this good....
