A large share of fans responded to the NFL’s tacit endorsement of Colin Kaepernick’s anti-American message by refusing to tune-in to games, prompting a huge decline in TV ratings. Aside from his disrespect for the national anthem, the San Francisco 49ers quarterback also sparked outrage by donning socks embroidered with pigs wearing police uniforms.
Early in the season, ESPN and network broadcasts never missed an opportunity to spotlight Kaepernick and his followers taking a knee during the pre-game ritual. Fans, though, saw Kaepernick’s protest as thumbing his nose at America. As a result, regular season ratings for 2016 dropped 8% to 16.5 million viewers per game from the 17.9 million who watched games during the 2015 NFL campaign.

2016 is the year America finally woke up.
The only thing that saved the NFL ratings-wise this season was the success of the Cowboys.
Kaepernick will be out of the league before next season.
Hope everyone has been dinging USAA for their sponsorship of the pro game.

Rogers, Roethlisberger, Brady, and Ryan are fantastic QB’s and are decent people. It’s the West Coast teams that suck. I ignore them and enjoy the rest.
Just as one time a long time ago I read Playboy only for the articles . . . I will be watching the Super Bowl only for the commercials. I can promise, however, that my TV will be muted for the so-called Pepsi half-time entertainment show starring Lady Gag-Me.
I don’t watch any sports anymore. The era of me watching sports is over.
They played a good last game. Heartbreaker at the last seconds. AR made some unbelievable throws though. There’s always next year.
The season started with that anti-American d-bag and ended with my city losing its team to Smell-A. Cured me of football at all levels, including my alma mater (Navy). And now, Stupid Bowl ticket prices are tanking.
Adios, cement heads.
I'd be happy to see them win, I'd be thrilled to see the NFL head destructor (Goodell) hand them the various trophies.
It would be fitting.

Football used to be an America pastime. This year Americans took a knee instead.
That would be worth watching and I plan on it.
