Publix Grocery Covers the Cover of The National Enquirer on Store Display

Asked about why it was covered and was told it was company policy. First time I have seen this. This issue has Trump layout.

Stores that get enough complaints (from the right people) will probably cover a particular issue of any magazine.
That company policy they always refer to likely gives this discretion to district or regional managers.
It shuts the complainers up. The managers just want to sell groceries. They don’t care about anything else.

I read somewhere that people complained about the National Enquirer for political reasons but used the children seeing racy pics on it for an excuse to cover it up. As I was checking out someone asked why it is covered and I explained why. Politics. I said some people need pacifiers. The man ahead of me nodded. The clerks thought it was strange it had to be covered and did not know why.

I love Publix. They are employee-owned and treat their customers very well.

They used to be closed on Sundays, too. They finally give in, though.

I’m curious. On what basis do you say the complainant was a person of color?

Do you have experience counting the complaints from each demographic group?

Public covers up a lot of covers. Many parents have been grateful for this over the past decades. Save your boycott efforts for a better Target.

Don’t get bent out of shape. It’s always covered, no matter the topic. Whether it’s about Trump or anyone else. When this first arose months ago I started looking. This topic is much ado about nothing. So uncovering it would be making an exception when Trump articles are on the cover and that’s not right. And I am pro-Trump. Let’s get real and not over-react.

Well, organize your protest, then. Sounds like something worthy of your time. Publix covers any magazine that might be controversial, and the policies are likely not standardized. I’m not surprised that they would cover a tabloid that is known for scandal. They cover Cosmo, any cover that references sex, so kids don’t stand in line with their moms looking at it. Only the most benign and uncontroversial magazines are uncovered.
