Sounds clueless but has a Hispanic surname, so check that box.
Well ... unfortunately that is exactly what it does

Why? As be says in the article, when Americans are forced to train their replacements, that’s a problem, and counter to the intent of the program. Well, the stated intent, anyway.
What the hell are you talking about? He’s AGREEING with you, saying the purpose of the program is the opposite of how it’s used.
It wasn’t the ORIGINAL intent when they wrote the bill back in the 90’s.
The guy who wrote it went on 60 Minutes on Sunday and said that intent has been completely perverted.
Dontcha even watch tee-vee??
>> ... it is not the intent to replace American employees with cheaper, foreign ones ... <<
Maybe not, but one of my American citizen friends was replaced by an H1B, who isn’t as experienced, less than a month ago.
What it is intended for and what it is being used for are frequently two different things.
Intention does not meet reality.
H1Bs exclusively replaced Americans by the thousands at my last employer.
Solve the problem by simply ending H1B and L1 visa programs. Neither are needed. Besides, since India won’t take back deportees we should cancel all visas from India and not allow a single person from India to come to the US until all here go home. Further, if a company employs and Indian, demand they fire them. No exceptions.
Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.
If H-1bs are meant for those experts we cannot find within the country...
then set the minimum wage to expert level.
lowest H-1b wage being the top 5% of earners in the field.
Intent. You can pave a mighty wide rode on “intent” but the destination is not desirable.
Which is why so many USAians lost their jobs; are losing their jobs. Trump allows this junk?
I went through an India-based devbootcamp and the common practice was to attach to the resume experience the company had not necessarily the individual. This propped up the individual’s experience to make it look like they had 7 years of experience. (Now they are boasting 10 years of experience for each individual). I was hired with a top company (not through this devbootcamp) and ran across one of these individuals. I spent 4 hours a day on the telephone with the individual teaching him and he supposedly had more experience than I did. I finally quit the job or rather walked out when they tried to cover up a TB incident. They told me they were a multi-billion dollar international company. I said okay and your point is? Then handed over my badge and laptop and walked out. These companies don’t hire the person, they obtain the position and rotate individuals through. If the salary limit is raised for the H1-B visa, then it will only go to show that resumes will continue to be faked to put individuals who are lesser trained and lesser experienced in the position. Then they will just have more money to send outside of the United States. Not putting that money towards our economy where it is sorely needed. I did research and in India, the exportation of labour is consider one of the top revenue generators for their domestic economy. The only solution here is to get rid of the H1-B visa program and any other program similar to it. Have an individual who wants to work here go through the normal process of immigration. This also means cancel all H1-B visa holders that have been here 3 to 5 years. Do not renew any H1-B visas that are being currently held. Increase the cost of work immigration visas to something beyond 20K USD per applicant. The numbers will fall and American workers in STEM might find suitable opportunities to gain needed experience that is currently being denied to them.
