Those deals are never dead. Ever!!

Which is why I won't breath easy until after the vote to do away with the Filibuster is in the books (which, with any luck will be in the next hour or two).

McConnell better use the nuclear and not go for the recess appointment route ...

The recess appointment route is not a viable option here. Unless he/she is 70+ years old, no judge worth his salt is going to give up a career elsewhere to take a temporary assignment on the U.S. Supreme Court.

The appeal of a recess appointment is that Trump is just the kind of president who might consider an outlandish recess appointment just to make a point. I've suggested that a retired pro wrestler or an unemployed steel worker would be great candidates for a recess appointment to the U.S. Supreme Court. If the Senate wants to make a joke of the Supreme Court, Trump may as well put someone there who could use the money.

Bet McCain votes against ‘nuke’. Maybe drag his girlfriend Lindsey with him.
IMO the Nuclear Option is not a done deal w/o a dim or two. Very unlikely.

I had to back off. I had to force myself to not to get worked up about things I have no influence over. I did what I could. I voted for Trump. I called and emailed Republican Party politicians urging them to support President Trump. When it hits the streets, I will be there again if I am still alive. But, as much as possible, I have backed off.

I don’t think that’s why she lost.

Face it, New Hampshire is lost for a good long time. Trump lost there, too.

The invasion of the purple people eaters, otherwise known as Mass-holes, has finally tipped the scale. Also, the New Yawk upper class liberals (think Bernie Sanders) who went to Vermont are now invading New Hampshire and Maine.

I sometimes think the TV show “Walking Dead” should be about Mass-hole and New Yawker transplants...

In any case, you’d think those Leftist transplants would WELCOME McCain-like reach-across-the-aisle Republicans, but why vote for that when you can actually vote for the real Marxist?

I hope so. But, again I will believe it when I see it. If you give McCain and the other Democrats that much time to come up with some skulduggery, they will. I don't know what Arizona has against the United States of America, but it must be one hell of a grudge, because they keep inflicting John McCain on it.

We really need one more mini-McCain/Graham.
Ayotte was McCain’s coyote. The voters wanted truth in lending, I guess.

Why go Democrat Lite when you can have the real thing? She got the boot, and Trump has one fewer coyotes howling against him.

HERE WE GO: McConnell is appealing the ruling that a cloture motion needs 60 votes to bypass a filibuster.

A Mike Cernovich retweet.

You prefer Sen. Hassan to Sen. Ayotte. Not me; so tired of losing and not tired of winning. New Hampshire was so close and President Trump/Sen. Ayotte vote totals were so very close.

Not very live. As much life as the senators are showing, C-Span might as well substitute a still photo for the video feed.

Kelly Ayotte lost her reelection bid, IMHO, because she allowed herself to be corrupted by McCain & Graham and brought into their orbit. She should have been smarterhan that.

She lost NH state wide by the same relative numbers as President Trump. If you think conservatives voted for Clinton/Hassan or Johnson/? can you give more detail on your opinion ?

You are using words like liberal, independents, conservative but those have nothing to do with it. They are opposed to him because he is a federalist.

The left wing theory holds that if FTAA(South America) were added to CAFTA & NAFTA, and, 5 Federalists were on SCOTUS, then, the right case would come along and reach SCOTUS, in which, the five federalists would use the case to declare the New Deal to be unconstitutional.

The dems have been fighting the federalists since 2001, but they couldn't stop Alito and Roberts, giving 4 seats to the federalists.

This is why Trump got elected. He said he would change NAFTA so the left wingers abandoned Hillary and voted for Trump.

That’s an interesting take. Assuming that Trump gets to choose at least one more judge, they’ll most likely be pro-Constitution federalist judges. Could it be that Trump’s legacy will be to restore states’ rights?

Abstinence is good advice, indeed. I just read McConnell pushed the button, and tomorrow Judge Gorsuch will get his confirmation.

It’s a huge thing that the Republicans did hang together. Also, this is one of three things that will save our country by preserving a conservative Supreme Court. The bonus is that future nominations of President Trump can be confirmed all the more expeditiously. (The other two reasons we voted for Trump include the de-weaponizing of the bureaucracy, esp. DOJ, IRS, and all enviro, energy, ag—and fixing immigration. Once and for all.)

But I wonder. Do you think Senator Schumer will now release the remaining handful of vulnerable senators (including my own despicable Jon Tester of Montana) to vote, giving Republicans that 60-vote threshold, after all? Can that be seen as a slightly face-saving effort? Not by us, of course, because we are well aware of the Democrats’ shady efforts. But would such a move be trumpeted by the press to persuade people that only Democrats are reasonable?

Discuss among yourselves and let me know what you think.

Never, ever expect Schumer to do anything good and decent and you will be well served.
