Virginia State Police on Tuesday contradicted Gov. Terry McAuliffes (D) claim that Charlottesville protesters had weapons stashed around the city.
McAuliffe made the claim about stashed weapons during an interview on DeRay McKessons podcast Save the People.
Twitter user @nycsouthpaw quoted McAuliffe using the podcast interview to describe protesters, saying, They had battering rams and we had picked up different weapons that they had stashed around the city.
Yet the very next dayAugust 15Virginia State Police countered McAuliffes narrative by denying that any weapons caches were discovered during sweeps of the city. Reasons CJ Ciaramella tweeted:
"I just got comment back from Virginia State Police. They say, contra McAuliffe, no caches of weapons were recovered. "
Moreover, on August 13–the day after the violence in Charlottesville erupted–the New York Times quoted McAuliffe claiming that protesters had “better equipment than [Virginia] State Police had.” Virginia State Police countered this claim as well.
A Virginia State Police spokesperson told CJ Ciaramella, “I can assure you that the Virginia State Police personnel were equipped with more-than-adequate specialized tactical and protective gear for the purpose of fulfilling their duties to serve and protect those in attendance of the August 12 event at Charolottesville.”

They seemed to be carrying bats, poles and other clubs in open sight. Seems a battle to be exploited by the left was the plan.
Sounds like the CPD stand-down order is about to be leaked.
All the more reason why the police should have intervened rather than “stand down”
McA is part of the Lyin Clinton Crooks. You can’t believe an Fn word he says
“Oh for crying.....Somebody sober up the Governor! He saw some fallen tree branches on the ground. Next thing he’ll be saying pine cones are grenades. Get some coffee in him!”
“pine cones are grenades”
Hilarious!
Then why didn't they do it?
Earlier this week, McAuliffe also said that 80’% of the UTR were carrying semiautomatic weapons. That is another lie.
Exactly McAuliffe is lying as usual.
The “protesters” usually do have weapons hidden - a family member who is a police officer has participated in inspections of the protest route before these events and they always find the parts of these homemade weapons stashed in the bushes, in trash cans, etc. The “protesters” pick up the parts and assemble them as they go so that the weapons do not get detected and confiscated before the protest gets underway.
Because McAuliffe and other state personnel get to make up the rules of engagement.
Just an example of a bizarre democrat lie.
The Virginia State Police admitted there was a stand down.
They said it was for their “safety”.
Yes that appears to be the plan all along.
It was a totally staged event.
Snicker ...... I hope that’s the case.
Do the police not check before the event area if they think weapons are stashed. It seems like many are looking the other way, probably due to leftist orders. If they did not want clashes they would not allow non-permitted people in such numbers. I am not a neo nazi supporter at all, they are just white supremacist leftist totalitarians and about the mirror of black lives matter.
Who stood down on whose order for whose safety? And on what streets was the order operative?
How is the world did a Finger Lakes (NYS) crook (Mr. Global Crossing) convince Virginia voters that he knew exactly what Virginia needed in leadership better than a lifelong resident? I know we have enough (D) crooks in NYS to export a few, but really Virginia should know better.
Dud they bring trees and lathes to assemble their baseball bats at the scene?
CPD stand down order bump for later.....
