North Korea openly threatens EMP attack for the first time, changing the game

BY ANTHONY FUREY, POSTMEDIA NETWORK

The news Sunday morning that North Korea had launched what appeared to be its sixth nuclear test and most powerful one to date is troubling enough.

But a statement from the rogue regime took things to a whole new level. The North said it had tested an H-bomb that was “a multi-functional thermonuclear nuke with great destructive power which can be detonated at high altitudes for super-powerful EMP (electromagnetic pulse) attack according to strategic goals.”

This is the first time it has publicly mentioned its interest and ability in an EMP attack, a devastating weapon that could have catastrophic consequences for North America, the West and their closer neighbours.

An EMP attack, as I detail in my new book Pulse Attack, is a nuclear detonation that occurs in the atmosphere and creates a waveform that can take down the electrical grid below.

In the worst case scenario, this wouldn’t just shut off the power for minutes or hours, but weeks or even months, due to serious damage to transformer stations and other integral elements of our power infrastructure.

This wouldn’t just mean we couldn’t turn on our laptops and televisions; it would shut down our telecommunications, transportation, water systems, our ability to get food to cities and much more.

I wonder if we’ll just IGNORE this threat, just as we’ve ignored every other EMP threat.

When a person points a gun at you and threatens to shoot you, would you be justified to shoot him if you had the opportunity to do so?

Any nuke is a potential EMP weapon.
++++
I believe that is true. What does it take to convert “potential” to weaponized? Any ideas?

Who is supplying him?

Why do they want us to strike first?

Earlier today a Freeper (sorry I don’t recall who or I’d credit them) observed that Russia recently relocated a few thousand people away from its border with NK.

Drop the experimental black hole device upon North Korea, let everything get sucked into another dimension.

Time to man up.

Totally agree. But it's hard to man up in a feminized culture.

He has been testing, but I do not think he has operational nukes on station at this time. Our government should know.

I don’t see Trump saying, “I’d like to do something, but it’s too late now.” He is instead trying to get Kim to come to his senses.

IMO < Out of the blue Trump is going to launch on Kim. First targets will be any place where Kim has been launching from. Second, all his nuclear labs will be gone. Third, we’ll be hot on his tail, and the tail of each of his regime leaders.

I believe we’ll be on high alert in case he does launch.

If he does, we’ll be prepared to counter those missiles.

Within six hours after initial action, Kim will be powerless to deal with our continuing onslaught.

He may be given safe haven in China to get rid of him.

As we attack, it may be a good idea to deliver massive shipments of food to the North Koreans too.

I’ll bet they want out from under these dictatorial regimes more then we want it for them.

He has to poke his fat head out sometime. A great big target.

Very close to Russian border.”

Didn’t the Russians evacuate their population from their North Korean border just a few days ago?

Some of our “culture” is incapable of manning up. Clinton, Bush, Obama...

Need I say more?

Trump is a brash no nonsense guy.

The Dems and RINOs will get their war. It’s just won’t be the one they wanted. (I hope)

And an EMP doesn’t even have to be particularly well aimed. 2 at 65,000 feet well spaced over the USA would put us back to the 1880’s lifestyle without 1880’s infrastructure. The Amish wouldn’t notice too much, but the rest of us would have a very, very bad problem.
Pray for strength and wisdom for the President.

Trump needs to have a serious discussion w China and Russia. They could control NK, and at this point they may be persuaded that it’s really time to do so.

Those who are preppers are already doing this but make sure you keep a hand held Ham radio in a Faraday Bag in case we are hit with an EMP. This way you can at least listen and in an emergency call for help or just listen for instructions on what to do. A basic first level Ham license is fairly easy to get if you have an aptitude for computers and electronics at all and they are good for ten years.

The Baofeng UV-5R can be had for as little as $25 through Amazon but there are better ones for those who have more discretionary spending available. Couple it with a taller better antenna and a Faraday Bag or make a Faraday cage out of tin trashcan and some cardboard. There are even roll up antennas you can hang from someplace high up to connect to your little hand held to get much better signals.

This is all fairly uncharted territory for us in the USA. We have never really been hit with anything big in the way of an EMP so we really don’t know what all will be affected for sure and just how much. It may not be near as bad as we think or it may be worse. We just don’t know.

High alert won’t stop an EMP device. And the Juche-fruit will have all the time he needs to burrow into the ground before any counter-strike. Meanwhile, the US goes dark.
