Most Voters Welcome Trump’s Outreach to Congressional Democrats
Rasmussen ^ | September 13th, 2017 | Unattributed

Posted on 09/13/2017 8:40:18 AM PDT by Mariner

Despite their failure to advance President Trump’s agenda, congressional Republicans aren’t happy about his outreach to Democrats in the House and Senate, but most voters think it’s a great idea.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 66% of Likely U.S. Voters say it is good for the country if Trump works with congressional Democrats to advance his agenda. Just 13% think the bipartisan cooperation is bad for the country, while 21% are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

Only 19% believe the president should continue to rely on congressional Republicans to pass his agenda. That’s down from 29% in early April. Sixty-five percent (65%) now feel he should reach out more to Democrats in Congress for help versus 58% who felt that way five months ago. Sixteen percent (16%) are not sure.

Republicans (72%) are even more enthusiastic about the president working with congressional Democrats than Democrats (62%) and voters not affiliated with either major party (63%) are.

Now all the phony Repukes and NeverTrumpers are gonna say, “See we told you he would sell us out.” Save it for the few idiots who still believe the GOP is still a vital political party.

Ben Sasse didn’t wait 5 minutes to smear Trump as “liberal.” After not lifting a finger to defeat Hillary. LOL. Fake conservative Ben Sasse shows GOP plantation conservatism is dead, IMO. These “conservatives” would rather lose than govern in a truly conservative manner.

I’m actually one of the voters who so approves.

So long as Trump uses Democrats to get to the goals he outlined in his campaign, why not?

Mr. Neoliberalnot appears to be a “true conservative” and Republican partisan.

He was surely a Ted Cruz supporter, an accusation he likely will not address.

You know this by the childish effort at “Conservative Shaming”...something Orthodox Conservatives live and breath.

Not unlike the Pharisees.

I don’t answer idiotic questions from damfools who can’t read nor think.

Yes, that’s an expression of contempt for you.

I’m sure you’ll find a way to live with it.

Well said. I personally like guys like Louie Gohmert and Steve King, but they are part of the GOP. Collectively they have to be held accountable for failing to pass the Trump agenda, which is pretty much what most conservatives have wanted for so long.

I OK being held in contempt by a “true conservative”, because on this site they are held in contempt by all.

They have the same level of respect as the Republican Congress.

But don’t take my word for it. Ask around.

“History shows us 90% of incumbents will win reelection. The problem is much of the GOP base thinks their guy is great and it’s the other “RINOs” who are the problem.”

True. These RINO incumbants usually have huge war chests from their real bosses, the lobbyists. Plus their fellow swamp creatures in GOPe leadership can throw them all kinds of sweeteners, as needed, to take back to their constituents.

However, all is not lost. Their real bosses, the lobbyists, expected results in the way of signed legislation that benifits their special interest, and have paid them bundles of cash to produce it - but this is not happening.

Hillary Clinton was meant to be POTUS, not Trump, and at this point, she was supposed to be getting carpal tunnel syndrome from signing legislation drafted of the lobbyists, by the lobbyists and for the lobbyists.

As soon as Trump won the election, the swamp machinery came grinding to a halt, because - what is the point of the lobbyists bribing legislators, and the legislators passing their bills, if there is no swamp POTUS to sign them?

So, the entire legislative branch has gone off offense and onto defense - obstruction, obstruction, obstruction.

The good news is that although they are blocking Trump’s MAGA agenda, Trump is also blocking their Swamp agenda Big League.

I think the lobbyists have largely pulled their stakes and gone away.

How easy will it be for the RINOs to ignore the interests of their constituents and do their swamp deals without the lobbyist financed war chests?

I think we will start to see many of them have a “come to Jesus” moment and suddenly be willing to actually represent the interests of their constituents.

Anyway, Trump acts like he has something up his sleeve, and this is all I can think of.

The recent praise of Trump by the MSM for working with Dems is something to worry about, praise is to Trump what Crack is to an addict.

Ask around.

Why should I? I don't give a rat's ass what you or they think of me.

I DO care what happens to America. As bad as swamp creatures like McTurtle and Ryno are, they're nothing like the poisonous predators Pelousy and Choomer, that you want to make best pals with.

A plague on them ... and on you, if you choose to make alliance with them.

Nazi Pelousy and Schmuck Choomer are progressives ... you’ll get all the “progress” you can take from them, and more.

You don’t seem to understand the situation. Jim Jordan was on Fox Sunday and explained it clearly. Ryan and McConnell have been either doing nothing (obamacare, vacation, etc.) or sending garbage to Trump’s desk. So POTUS has two options now: more of the same (nothing and garbage) or a new Plan B. Jordan fully supports POTUS, btw. You should to, FRiend.

Yup.

Trump’s job isn’t to toss out the idiot that the GOP voter seems too stupid and or lazy to remove themselves.

Like these RINOs just appeared in those seats on their own.

You don’t seem to understand the situation.

ROFL!!!

I understand it all too well. That's why I oppose it.

Jordan fully supports POTUS,

That's nice. Does POTUS fully support We the People? That's a better question. We've known for years that Schumer and Pelosi want to destroy We the People. That's been obvious since the early 1990s. Remember? Now we know that McTurtle and Ryno are also worthless ... So what does our servant do? He goes from bad (M/R) to worse (S/P). Nothing good gets accomplished. I don't care how many bills get passed, or how many get signed into law: if they're bad, we're headed in the wrong direction.

“that you want to make best pals with”

Nay, they are being used as a “credible alternative”, in one last effort to bring the corrupt Republicans to their senses.

It MAY be necessary to give them one of their high-profile but meaningless objectives in a grand bargain to make the threat real.

Trump was not elected b/c of DEMOCRAT principles either! Anyone who is happy that he collaborated with Communists is a fool. There is nothing to celebrate here. We could have gone for Madoff Clinton if we wanted Democrat input!

And what if plan B is what the uniparty had in mind all along?

In other words, the uniparty bet that Trump would do deals with democrats if republicans stonewalled him. They want that as the plan pushes Trump towards his natural political liberal propensity, and keeps the uniparty safe.

Deals are great but where does this go? There is no way in hell Democrats go along with building a wall, cutting taxes, or repealing O’care...so do we end up with little to nothing done? If so, checkmate for the uniparty.
