California Workers Compensation is LOADED with fraud.
Starts with Spanish advertisements for injured workers. And many or at least some of them are really injured, make no mistake.
Anyway, the injured worker is directed to an attorney (who pays the above person a fee; they are called “cappers”). And here’s where the big money comes. Doctors submitting liens for $20,000 who saw the patient a few times and prescribed creams for $1200 a tube, stuff like that.
Copy services charging $5,000 for less than 200 pages of copying.
Interpreter services, because the injured worker only speaks Spanish, who appear at every single hearing, even when the worker doesn’t have to be there charging thousands for each appearance.
And on and on it goes. Once in a while, something is done. But it’s rare:
