The Hill and Gallup ^

A new Gallup poll shows growing support for marijuana legalization, with 64 percent of Americans now in favor of the measure.

The number is the highest level of support in nearly half a century of surveying adults on the issue, according to Gallup. Support has steadily increased in recent years, with the latest figure up 4 percentage points over last year and up 14 points from 2011.

The poll also showed a majority of Republicans favoring legalization for the first time, with 51 percent expressing support. That number is up 9 percentage points from last year, according to Gallup.

Yeah, because a joint (less addictive than alcohol) is just like crystal meth (addicted first time using). /rollseyes

No way. Most people think of recreation, many do not even known of the beneficial medical effects.

Not breaking the question up into two parts does not detract from the numbers. I would have thought that it would be more than that.

They are already doing drugs (both legal and illegal) if they want. And if you want to go on the dole, one of the easiest ways to get SSDI++ (our tax dollars) is to claim alcohol addiction is causing you to be disabled. That being said, I’m more than perfectly fine putting drug AND alcohol testing on people on the dole.

Lots of Americans are pretty dumb, but most Americans know what is meant by legalizing marijuana.

And it ain't about those trying to get the munchies while on chemo.

There is a huge difference between pot and those other drugs just in their effect on the health of the user.

And it isn’t nearly as dangerous as the far more dangerous alcohol.

I have changed my mind, in favor of the “gateway drug” paradigm.

It is NOT a practice whereby the damage and harm are limited to the user.

Pot leads to speed leads to pain meds leads to heroin.

Drug users commit many crimes, to support their drug supply.

As far as I know Virginia doesn’t have any casinos. I don’t believe it’s legal here. But if it is I might want to start one.

Dumb. Almost every user of those drugs started out by drinking milk so ip so facto drinking milk leads to addicting drugs?

I don’t think so.

C’mon now. Are you telling me that people who have access to alcohol can’t do the same thing to themselves? I’ve been smoking since I was 14 and I’d consider myself a pretty productive member of society at age 45 who holds conservative views on most issues. But on this one, we just need to let people do their own thing b/c weed does help with chronic pain and nausea and when compared to the side effects from opioids, its much less destructive.

That's the objective. Vending machine narcotics.

As an aside, I am curious as to why FR has been infested with all these addicted Libertarians? Do they not have their own legitimate venue to spout their stoned nonsense?
