Feds Apologize, Will Pay ‘Generous’ Settlement to Tea Party Groups for Illegal Targeting

The IRS on Thursday settled two lawsuits alleging the agency illegally targeted conservative groups under the Obama administration.

One of the settlements stipulated the IRS issue a formal apology for illegally singling out conservative and tea party groups due to their political beliefs dating back to 2013.

The other settlement, a class-action lawsuit brought by the NorCal Tea Party with 428 members, includes a “generous” multi-million dollar payout, according to a lawyer involved.

“There is no excuse for this conduct,” Attorney General Jeff Sessions said in a statement. “Hundreds of organizations were affected by these actions, and they deserve an apology from the IRS.”

According to Fox News, Sessions said groups seeking tax-exempt status with names including “Tea Party” or “Patriots” were given the rigmarole “based solely on their viewpoint or ideology.”

The fine should be paid by deducting that amount from the IRS budget.

Multimillion split amongst 428 members of a TP and their lawyers is hardly generous.

Eh. Yore probably right. I’m being Pollyanna. So sick of lawlessness of corrupt politicians and the general public.

It just has to stop or it will get worse until we’re done. I do think Trump knows it but ugh

Have Lois Lerner pay with her money, not our taxpayer money.

Go over to GuideStar.org to review the publicly available data associated with IRS Form-990.

Find names and addresses.

My bet is someone on the list will be committing other illegal acts.

Make them spend the ill-gotten gains defending themselves.

“There is no excuse for this conduct,” Attorney General Jeff Sessions said in a statement.

Of course there is!

Four more years in the White House.

More "flexibility" with Putin.

Giving Iran $150 billion.

Freeing Taliban killers from Guantanamo Bay.

Spying on Americans.

All this, and more, are worth much more than a few measly payoffs to conservative groups shut out of the 2012 election.

All the people at the IRS who were part of this RICO act conspiracy should be forced to forego their government pension and live on social security of less than $2k a month while their pension money is sent to the fund that pays the Tea Party groups that were wronged. If the people who committed these crimes are not punished then there is no justice. They should be going to jail for no less than 10 years depending on their role in the crime. We need to find out who originated this order and put them away for the rest of their life. I’m suspecting ValJar or Obie himself.

The American people get screwed twice. Once by the original crimes then by paying the settlement from our tax dollars.

How can AG Sessions think this is fair and equitable when justice has not been served? Why can people commit crimes while working for the government but never get punished for them while anyone in the private sector would be looking at a minimum of 10 years for this kind of crime? Grrrr.

"...Republican leadership in Congress were made aware of this and did nothing because they want the Tea Party gone too...."

When I realized this fact, my heart was hardened against the GOPe forever.

Death to the GOPe.

I hope they suffer before they die, in a van, down by the river.

Traitors all.

The Feds pay nothing, tax payers pick up the tab. This would mean something if Barak and Learner were held liable, they weren’t.

Right you are ” Attorney General Jeff Sessions said in a statement. “Hundreds of organizations were affected by these actions, and they deserve an apology from the IRS.”. That's a good start, now I would like to see indictments, arrests and criminal prosecutions of IRS employees!

There are quite a few players going silent right now.

Rush always said Obama would be front and center every day on the news rebutting Trump. Well, that ain’t happening.

What we have now is Trump exposing the conspiracy to take him and America down and the MSM cannot do a damn thing about it.

The exposure will just drip out like a leaky faucet.

Hollyweird cannot help because they have their own crapstorm to worry about.

I also doubt you will get Bob Costas personal opinions on the 2nd A anytime soon.

The left is imploding. Go TRUMP!

They’re getting swamped. Every time one of them has insurmountable trouble another one goes down. Hillary is looking around for money sources and they’re all treading water.

It’s merciless.

Rush wants to know why Trump is not tweeting about the Russian thing. He doesn’t get Trump. Rush was so personally invested in Ted Cruz that he, to this day, doesn’t see how Trump operates. At the least Trump is not letting a crisis go to waste. But he doesn’t use tweeting as a substitute for the media. He truly doesn’t need such a forum. He uses it but not always. He is not in perpetual campaign mode. He accepts that he won the election and he acts like it. He’s merciless about it. So, like him, everyone is quiet about this swamping the left is getting. They won’t sustain it.

Trump is an honest broker so no matter how much swamp draining happens it doesn’t affect him. And he doesn’t need the media to help him present a facade. He can take command of a forum all by himself so the media can’t touch him. He doesn’t need twitter as s forum. He uses it but he doesnt need it and he doesn’t need twitter in this Russian thing. The less said the better. There won’t be any question how the media colludes with liberal globalist socialist despotic America hating politicians after this.

Hannity is the only one talking about Russian collusion with the obama admin including Hillary as SoS. Fox wanted him out. Instead they had to give him back his 9pm slot. If Hannity had so much as looked a a girl staffer or guest sideways he’d have been out and we’d be hearing about none of this.

I don’t know if obama the community organizer is quiet.

How much does he have to do with all of the effort to destroy Trump. How much is obama involved with the NFLs effort to express hatred for America.

Hillary is running out of support. That’s got to have them all nervous

Is it the storm Trump was talking about? The s-storm?
