Agree with you completely on that one. Words have meaning.
According to the article, it will be a working uniform to be worn in office operations only. It is not a combat uniform or an obtional obviously. So why the expense? The original for this is at government expense with the follow on for the replacement parts covered by individual clothing allowance unless damaged by work related incidents. It is going to increase the requirement for clothing allowance for the members as they add new uniforms.
They will probably phase out one of the working uniforms shortly. Member won’t be able to keep this uniform on hold when they don’t wear it as it is for a defined location use and many spend their career never working in that atmosphere. Not a good idea.

I had signal corps pins, rank patch (spec4) orange braid and a good conduct badge they took away from me.
Concerning piture above:
I think a belted coat is a mistake. The coats look fine in the picture, but they want to add a belt, like Gen. George Marshall above. This would be a mistake.
Regarding the pinks and greens, my point of reference is only from watching old WW2 movies and for some reason (maybe bad color reproduction ability on old TVs) they always looked like dark brown jackets with khaki pants to me. Always thought it looked really good. Then I saw a real uniform and was like 'whoa, why are the pants pink? And the jacket is sort of a faded green, this looks terrible!' I've since gotten used to it but I sort of miss the Brown and Khaki uniform that only existed in my poorly calibrated eyes.
Now do away with those goofy berets. We ain’t French.
To look like soldiers, bring back the garrison caps with piping that indicates specialty.
Absolutely impossible to keep clean. The Corps had Summer Tropicals, back in the 70's. Peanut butter colored. Summer weight wool shirt and trousers, matching wool field scarf, and also cotton khakis, 3 sets of each, With garrison and overseas covers. (The wool shirts doubled as winter shirts under the green winter weight blouse.)
You learned, quickly, that the slightest smudge on your fingers would transfer to your shirt pocket flaps and trousers. It's why you kept your wallet and butts in your socks.
You also used a cheap pair of white gloves to fasten your belt buckle, and then do not touch it for the rest of the day, lest you fingerf#ck your brass or smudged your cotton belt, which you had scrubbed with toothpaste to get it the properly accepted "salty" color...
I did too. But I don’t see any ‘pink’. To what does that refer? Or is my monitor faulty?
My dad had several pairs of “pinks” from his service time but quit wearing them in the early 60s when we came home from overseas.
A couple of his buddies wore pinks and may well have been buried in them.
Both Sherman and Grant wore enlisted men’s uniform coats with no insignia of any kind. Officers from other units reporting to them on several occasions walked right past Sherman and Grant, not realizing who they were. Of course, the benefit to wearing their uniforms that way was they were less likely to be targeted by snipers.

The Hat and jacket in the center look much like the ones my father had hanging in the closet from WW II days.

Hopefully women will have skirts on too, and that uniform is much better than the crap they have now.
