Guilty, Especially If Proven Innocent
Mitt Romney ^ | 11/11/2017 | By Laz A. Mataz

Posted on 11/11/2017 2:22:09 PM PST by Lazamataz

It read like something straight out of "The Onion".

"Innocent until proven guilty is for criminal convictions, not elections."

So spake Mitt Romney, would-be King of the Establishment Republicans.

This one sentence shows a complete betrayal of all American mores and morals. In every walk of life -- law, elections, even reputations -- Americans have cherished the concept that one is innocent until proven guilty. This shows how dangerous Establishment Republicans are. They are every bit as dangerous as the most liberal Democrat.... and if given enough freedom to act, they would happily join Democrats in rounding up and killing Conservatives.

Right now, such a sentiment is reserved for Roy Moore, who clearly is the Establishment's second-worst nightmare (the first being Donald Trump).

Frankly, I'm surprised that Mitt Romney -- or as I like to call him, Mitt (R)Money -- didn't go a half-step further, and declare Roy Moore "Guilty, even if proven innocent."

The last year and a half have been the most revealing in all of American politics. We have certain proof that there is but one party in Washington, we have certain proof that they are more than happy to ignore voters wishes and even the results of elections, we have certain proof that they will stop at nothing to thwart the common citizen and their will.

It reveals a very dangerous situation, a situation that shows that the Establishmenty is completely unrestrained by American customs, laws, and basic moral fairness. I suspect that the Establishment would even allow a systemic collapse of America. "Better to burn it and rule over ashes," they think, "then to lose power."

If citizens sieze back government from these Esablishment Elites, let us use their words against them. We will not consider individuals such as Mitt Romney innocent until proven guilty. We will consider him guilty, and sentence him accordingly.

Laz, we hardly knew ye. This was a brilliant piece you wrote.

Saying that “innocent until proven guilty applies only in criminal convictions, not elections” is skating close to outright fascism. Of all people Mittens should know something about false allegations. But then, there’s something fascistic about Mormonism, I have always believed.

Anyway, you’re no fun anymore. Too serious. Give us the Laz of old, the out of control volcano of heterosexuality we all aspire to be (and there’s nothing wrong with that!). Write something that screams “Rules! Where’s Catherine Zeta-Jones!!?”

;^)

In politics it’s guilty until proven innocent but that’s not a particularly bad thing.

.
That’s a bad thing no matter where it happens. Especially over PERSONAL things from years ago that cannot be proved or disproved.
It’s bad because it takes away from the issues that are important to sling useless mud. When the people who have real power are doing things that are dangerous or corrupt causing harm to our nation. This is a distraction.
Calling for someone to step down before an election on the word of someone making an accusation and then HIDE behind “Well this isn’t a court of law” is the ultimate form of being a snake and a pussy.

I think you take me wrong to say they weed out their own, weeding out and eating aren’t exactly the same thing. Weeding out implies there are some VALUES behind the activity. Eating is just eating.

In context: eating your own IS BETTER than mindlessly circling the wagons.

When I say it’s (eating your own) about what is left that’s good about the RNC: I should have likely qualified that by also saying it’s only good because there’s so little that’s worth a damn anyway.

If the left ate its own the way Republicans do it wouldn’t be just a good thing but a great thing! A great thing precisely because EVERYTHING about the left is worse than not worth a damn but is instead damnable, speaking non-theologically (though for too many damnable describes the grip that ideology has on them).

Here’s a literary metaphor: the RNC is like Mr Halfways and his daughters in The Pilgrim’s Regress: they know about good things and proper things but on the day to day basis they are ideologically neither here nor there. Meanwhile the DNC is like the clannish Cleavers poo pooing and mocking Halfways for his corruption and, well, half ways, even as they celebrate the blackest black of moral decay and debauchery.

First, it’s a poor writer who blames his reader so all is good and I’m trying to get better.

Secondly, not caring is the greatest insult and disparagement you can bestow upon these people. They can thrive on our emotions as much as theirs. But look closely at where they actually ARE fighting in the culture and at every point of conflict it is about the insistence that we care about whatever offends, that we be offendsensitive too. It is (remember the real enemy is not flesh and blood but powers and principalities behind flesh and blood) precisely by responding as we are invited to that their rhetorical-emotive position is strongest.

Caring about their feelings and Offendsensitivity, even a bit, is the new form of paying the Dane Geld (pay the Dane Geld and the Danes never go away). Better to laugh in their faces and mock them for holding to foolishness and vapid, sentimental notions. Treat them with contempt and as contemptible, literally don’t care and even act as if there is social glue holding you and them together that you should care about their idiocy is a hostility without anger (they aren’t even worth anger, only stoic opposition). It is to be an implacable foe given the terms and ends for which they fight.

When I say don’t be like them I mean: don’t wander down some similar road as they have to become creatures that mindlessly protect their own as they do.

I've said before that the Majority of the Republicans in Washington DC are Kamikaze Republicans.

The are willing to die politically, and I dare say give up all their worldly possessions, rather than see Trumpisum survive.

"Innocent until proven guilty is for criminal convictions, not elections.” - Mitt Romney
I absolutely agree with that. I don’t care if there is no way of getting a jury which will unanimously convict Hillary - the public record convicts her, and there is no Republican I ever heard of bad enough to make me vote for Hillary against him (or her).

And the voters of Alabama will make their own judgements about the choice between Judge Moore and his Democrat opponent. I expect their judgement to factor in:

What irony it would be to see this very quote used successfully against him.

Not that the alternatives weren’t worse, but I so regret now supporting and voting for both Bushes, John McCain, and Mitt Romney.

[...] but I intend a rewrite to flesh it out more and remove any spelling and/or grammer erors.

And then repost it here, hopefully.
