Do you really think Trump would have won if he had run on rearranging the tax burden to benefit business and screw conservatives in states with a state income tax?

Net it’s still a large tax cut. And it never made sense to allow you to deduct for outrageous local taxes in the first place. It just encouraged more of that.

Uh who do you think creates jobs? Businesses do. Trump won to get the economy going. Most people in states with state income taxes will not see their taxes go up (present company included and I have to file in two states) - only the outrageously high tax states (CA, NJ, NY etc) that didn’t vote for trump anyway would be effected. I currently itemize 35k and wouldn’t be able to itemize afterwards and my taxes drop by $2k/yr.

Exactly. This never happened:

'So here's what I am going to do - give a Great Big, Beautiful tax cut to the largest corporations from 35% to 20%, AND they will get to keep all of their deductions - - even their state, local, and property tax! But for the middle class, I am going to slash or cap almost every deduction you have, including medical expenses, property taxes, state and local taxes, alimony, disaster relief funds - all of that! Millions of you will be paying Great Big fatter checks to the IRS, because we need your money to offset the cut to those wonderful corporations! And Mark Zuckerberg and Goldman Sachs are going to love it, believe me....'

Oh, it will pass. McStain just came out for it.

And when you "rub my face in it" - make sure you blaspheme Almighty God again.

It's right in line with your character.

“Oh, it will pass. McStain just came out for it.”

Your tears will be almost as sweet as those of Hillary supporters on election night.

Almost.

Who knows? It might almost motivate some changes in tax policy at the local and state levels. Stranger things have happened.

You didn’t answer my question. I know fully how business taxes work, I also know when you burden consumers with high taxes, you curtail spending. And regardless of whether or not most states with state income taxes will be hit as hard as CA and NY, all of them will carry the burden. Do you think Trump would have won by pushing tax realignment as a tax cut?

My household is clamping down on spending and re-setting plans for the near future regarding any vacations and “extras.
We also have to re evaluate college plans for our teenagers.
There isn’t going to be any “trickle” out of this house.

Nice. I am a Christian, a Conservative, and a military veteran. I have worked all my life. I have raised a family. I guess I am just dirt under the feet of posters like you who equate with me with evil people, simply because I object to my taxes being increased by Paul Ryan, Mitchy McConnell, and the Goldman Sachs vermin who have wormed their way into the White House. Wow. Just wow.

But when this injustice passes, I will pray and know I am in the arms of my Savior. At least I am not the one damning God's name. That's all you.

I didn’t damn the name of God. I asked Him to damn your incessant whining.

No go get busy lowering the obscene levels of taxation in your state. That’s actual work.

So many of these people sound just like the liberals that have destroyed California. They take pleasure in the idea that liberal states are going to get “cut down to size” so they can get what they want.

The Delusional Lying Left thinks government owns you and your money. Contrary to the values and principles of our Founders, but very much like Marx and the Bolsheviks, they think rights, power, and ownership begins with government, not the individual. So they think every hard-earned nickel you make automatically belongs to the government. That is why your taxes are called a “return” from the legal usage of “return”.

As with the legal “return” document to show just cause for denying an individual of his automatic right to freedom (in answer to a writ of habeas corpus), so here, the government thinks it has an automatic right to your money and the “return” shows the just cause for an individual keeping (some of) his money.

Again, unlike the values and principles of our Founders, but very much like Marx and the Bolsheviks, the Delusional Lying Left, who holds the reigns of government and the media, always looks at everything from government’s, not the individual’s, perspective. That is why we get terms like “trickle down”, “supply side”, and even “voodoo economics” (Bush showing his cluelessness).

The definition of supply-side economics (AKA “trickle down”) is a theory that by lowering taxes on corporations, GOVERNMENT can stimulate investment in industry and thereby raise production, which will, in turn, bring down prices and control inflation. It’s all from government’s perspective. Government’s “supply” is you getting to keep more of your hard-earned money - benevolent government “supplies” you with more of your own money. It’s that generous of them? What b/s.

There’s no “trickle down” or “supply side”. Government doesn’t create wealth, it never has and never will. Government creates poverty. Prosperity comes only from LESS GOVERNMENT, MORE FREEDOM, and WEALTH CREATION in the market economy FREE from government interference.

I take no pleasure in the idea that some people (not all or even nearly all as some people keep saying) will pay more taxes in loony left states like CA under the plans that have been introduced. I don't care for a lot of things in the bill.

However I believe the economy will benefit from cutting the highest corporate tax rate in the world. I would be okay with just a corporate tax cut and leaving personal taxes unchanged for now.

If anyone sound just like the liberals that have destroyed California it's people who say the corporations are evil and "keep all the money for themselves" or some such loony left thing. People who think that way should move to N. Korea or Cuba.

I’ll tell you what Lurker, how about we just agree to disagree on this tax bill and shake hands.

If Trump signs this (and I am 99% he will), then he is going to jettison a tremendous amount of goodwill and a large percentage of his biggest supporters.

I have been a forum member for almost 20 years. I think I have a pretty good sense of the winds of politics. I used to live in Washington DC, I was in hearing of the House and Senate Armed Services Committees, and I have been in the Capitol. I have served in the Pentagon. I worked with contractors and lobbyists. I used to visit offices in Chrystal City and Georgetown, and we engaged in long conversations with high ranking staffers and former members of Congress.

For people who assume that the revolving door is how it all works, well, they are correct.

The GOP has admitted that these bills are written by K Street, and for their lobbyists. They are written to benefit business, and screw the middle class.

What is going on here with these tax bills is that a certain side have been designated as the "winners" -- but that is going to come at a tremendous price of the "losers." What the "winners" don't want, above all, are the facts to come out until their win is achieved. Fear of losing brings anger and hatred upon those who might expose their position before they get what they want.

I have seen it a 1000 times.

Here on FR - many posters want to project the myth that anyone who is in opposition to these bill is a Communist, Socialist, or Trump hater. Further, they want to deceive people into the lie that "corporations don't pay taxes" - and they blatantly say that as we are debating the middle class getting soaked to pay for a slash in the corporate rate from 35% to 20%. If I had a dollar for every poster who said that lie here in the last month, I could take my wife out for a nice dinner.

Now that McStain has come out in support of this bill, I believe it will pass. I think there will be a tremendous boost in the already overinflated stock market. But many middle class Trump supporters are going to get creamed.

We will lose the House in 2018 if this passes. I am almost certain of that.

And then, Impeachment will begin.

Mark my words.

McCain understands this bill will destroy the Trump presidency.
His support ought to give everyone reason to pause.

I think we will lose the House in 2018 if this passes. I also think we'll lose it if it doesn't. Polls have shown generic Democrats way ahead of generic Republicans for quite a while now. Probably the only chance to head that off is if the economy is quite strong and Trump and the Republicans make sure to take credit for it, which they'll have to do without any help from the media.
