Steyn used the Steinle case to segue into a broader discussion about immigration, asking why the United States admitted people who didn't speak the language and had a “grade-two education”:

What was it about a guilty verdict for the crime of involuntary manslaughter that the court did not understand?
It was about giving the middle finger to President Trump.
They not only despise Trump, they hate America and actively seek its downfall. If this isn’t sedition, I don’t know what is.
The “termites” have so infested the foundational pillars of our republic, “extermination treatment” would be epic.
I think part of the problem was that the Judge did not allow the jury to hear anything about his past crimes. Nor were they allowed to know that the gun had been stolen just days before.
So the defense was allowed to present a man with no criminal background and that the gun went off accidentally.
My first thought when I heard the verdict was that the Prosecutor purposely presented a weak case. In other words the fix was in (similar to the way Democrats fixed trails in the South to get KKK members off).
But that is just an opinion with no facts. Maybe in time we will know the truth.

It’s a sad day for justice, but it might serve to waken and arouse the opponents of illegal migration. And Trump is really hearing it.

I’ll have to admit, I assumed this case was so cut and dried that the man stood no chance of acquittal. There are really no words to describe such depravity. The jurors are contemptible wretches.

It’s clear the law no longer protects law-abiding citizens. And border enforcement is non-existent when democrats hold power.

He had a jury of his peers and in this case they really were his peers, they were as depraved and immoral as he is. What else would you expect of the majority vermin that slink around San Francisco?
It’s 6:20 am and Morning Joe still has not mentioned the verdict. Talking about Russia, the Christmas Tree Lighting, the Trump’s tweets of Muslims...blah blah blah. NOTHING!
Gee, I can’t wait to watch videos of rampaging, rioting whites across the nation demanding justice and shouting “no justice, no peace!”
The verdict did settle the race in Alabama and give PDJT a second term.
Past offenses are always off limits during a trial.
Even during sentencing (in states where the jury decides the sentence) a lot is not revealed.
But this was a show trial so San Francisco could show the world they are happy to sacrifice their own citizens on the altar of political correctness. They picked a jury of idiots who would deliver the verdict they wanted. That jury just became accessories to murder.
