In order to test whether a peace settlement is possible between Israel and the Palestinian Authority, the U.S. embassy must be relocated to Jerusalem as soon as possible. Close to 25 years after the signing of the Oslo Accords, it appears that Israel and the PA are no closer to peace. It is high time that the U.S. takes a different path to test whether the PA is ready to make true peace with Israel or whether this long-winded peace process is no more than a seemingly endless charade.
Israel has repeatedly taken actions in its quest for peace, including multiple transfers of territorial control in the West Bank, total abandonment of Gaza, and a 10-month long building freeze. Little, if any, good has come of it. The Palestinian Authority instead was involved in a murderous intifada against Israel that claimed the lives of roughly 1,000 Israelis, as well as frequent terrorist attacks over the years. The PA also actively seeks a unity pact with the Hamas terrorist organization, and has consistently been involved in incitement to murder and attack Israelis and Jews in all forms of the Palestinian media. This is reminiscent of the verse, “I am peace; but when I speak, they are for war.” (Psalms 120:7)
In addition, the PA and Mahmoud Abbas have refused to even make the most basic of gestures critical to any peace deal. The Palestinian Authority has refused to recognize Israel as a Jewish state, refused to recognize any part of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, and even threatened that if the U.S. recognizes Jerusalem as Israel’s capital (even if that recognition is limited to part of Jerusalem) it would amount to a “complete destruction of the peace process.”

There is no peace process. There’s only so-called Palestinians playing a waiting game hoping to have enough strength at some point to kill all the Jews.
I’ve said all along that it’s eventually going to happen, but it may take a long time. The biggest hurdle, as any credible expert in U.S. foreign policy will tell you, is that the formal legal status of Jerusalem really has to be resolved first. The U.S. can push the various parties to negotiate an agreement on that, but there’s no compelling reason for it to force anyone’s hand.
The Palis will go completely nuts, not that they aren’t already.
I have no trouble with Trump doing it but figure he will stop short and just say Jerusalem is the capital of Israel without moving the embassy there for now.
What makes the author think that peace between Israel and the Palestinians is remotely possible if the embassy is moved to Jerusalem. For that matter, what makes the author think that peace between Israel and the Palestinians is remotely possible if the embassy stays in Tel Aviv?

If that's the basis of his argument, then we may as well move it to Kansas.
Unless Trump is getting personal calls from Bibi, recommending a delay due to imminent threat, I say ‘get ‘er done’.
To hell with public threats from Turkey and the PA.
The palis have to complain publicly; and Turkey wants to lead a new caliphate (as did the Sultan before WWI).
But the rest of the nations there are much more concerned with Iran and the spread of Shia allies.
They will let the embassy matter hit the back burner, with little besides mild comments.
All rhetoric aside, strategically and logistically, Tel Aviv is the better location. Overall - In that region supportability is paramount. To think otherwise is unwise.

Logistically, New York is a better location for the US capital. (It’s near the UN, is a major port, etc.).
And the climate is better than Washington’s.

Much like the election of Trump, I regard that assertion as the status quo's "excuse for failure."
Time for a new "expert."
That’s not an excuse for failure at all. As a real estate guy, Trump knows better than anyone else just how important sound land titles are to any long-term initiative.
Let’s see what folks here on FreeRepublic say when Mexico decides that Los Angeles is the capital of North Mexico and moves their embassy there from Washington.
How about you stop reaching up your poop chute to find a rationale to justify your thoroughly failed position.

The Arab world, in general, has no claim on Jerusalem beyond what we have allowed them to arrogate, and the palis have nothing to bargain with beyond their intransigence.
Does that sound like someone Trump would waste his time across the table from?
Land titles are only as secure as the government over that land. Land title means nothing if you can't enforce it.
