EU needs to project its power in Trump era in order to survive, says German Foreign Minister

Germany’s foreign minister on Tuesday urged Europe to define and defend its own interests, warning that Washington’s retreat from the world stage may continue even after Donald Trump’s presidency.

“The current withdrawal of the US under Donald Trump from its role as the reliable guarantor of western multilateralism is accelerating a change in the world order and has direct consequences on the perception of German and European interests,” Sigmar Gabriel said.

He said that the current US administration had taken an “extraordinary distance” from its traditionally close relationship with Europe, which it now increasingly viewed as a “competitor or economic rival” rather than an ally.

Urging Europe not to sit back and wait but take its fate into its own hands, Gabriel warned that the “US withdrawal is not just about one single president; it won’t change fundamentally with the next election”.

“That’s why there is no doubt that Germany and Europe, given this situation, need to take on more than before,” he told a foreign policy congress in Berlin. …

EU should project its “power” against the Islamic invasion raping its daughters and staining its lands.

"The current withdrawal of the US under Donald Trump from its role as the reliable guarantor of western multilateralism is accelerating a change in the world order and has direct consequences on the perception of German and European interests," Sigmar Gabriel said.

Wrong. Trump isn't withdrawing from anything, he's just insisting that the Euros pay for what they've enjoyed and built their societies on for the last half century. We have an agreement. It's written down, it's crystal-clear, and Germany is not now, hasn't in the past, and doesn't look to in the near future, meeting its clear obligations. I so wish the Euros would stop pretending about the issue; if it isn't Trump now it would be someone similar very shortly, and the longer off, the worse the price to be paid for being dilatory about the matter.

Gabriel warned that the "US withdrawal is not just about one single president, it won't change fundamentally with the next election".

Correct, although the globalist establishments of both parties are screeching about it. What the hell do these people want? If we exert power we're reprehensible imperialists, if we don't, we're retreating into a shell. It's very simple: if the EU is going to live up to its globalist pretensions it's going to have to foot the bill. If it isn't, it can accept American leadership, but the price is that they have to quit bitching incessantly about it. If it is, pony up.

Paraphrasing, Enough of this “reliable guarantor $hit.” All of Europe has had a “free ride” courtesy of the US Taxpayer since 1945. Thanks to President Trump, that “Lengthy Era” is over. Hey Sigmar, see how you like defending yourselves on your own dime for a change. Essen zie sheist Siggie, isn’t it!

Where did the US retreat from the world stage? Paris Climate Treaty? By all means Germany step up and waste your country's wealth on "climate change". Where else did the US retreat from the world stage?

America was all that kept the Soviet Union from taking all of Europe. While American taxpayers and American Soldiers paid for the defense of Europe, Europeans attempted to create a socialist Utopia. I am beginning to think we did not do them any favors. They have grown so weak that they are afraid to stop the current invasion of Muslims into their land.

They are waking up to the fact that America may not be there to save them when the now current low level war heats up.

Can Europe be saved? Not unless they are willing to give up their socialist life and be willing to kill and die to protect their family.

Sick of paying for the protection of ungrateful Socialists.

EUssies would rather fight over the definition of what IS and IS NOT Parmesan Cheese than defense of heritage of people from invading (and foreign funded) Islamic colonists.

And to think that what was the Warsaw Pact (sans the USSR) is now better friends to us than our old 'friends' of NATO is just amazing. Europe has gone full-on bizzarro world.
Germany couldn't project it's way past a beer tent. These Western euroweenies are still so astonishingly full of themselves while their culture dies before their very eyes.
Liberalism truly is a mental disorder.
